"TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread - Page 26

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

The parallel to human nature you point out is strong, as just like we're supposed to have programming that overrides our base programming, so does Cameron also have new "program directives" that override her base programming. But her base programming is still there. It hasn't been deleted. If her override programming became damaged or deleted, she'd revert to her base programming. There were many little gems in the finale, but hearing Cameron say, "I might, one day," in response to John asking why she doesn't kill him was just good stuff.

I guess it's something you could take either way because it was never 100% clear about the programming. If you watch T2 "ultimate edition" with the extra footage, it seems like much can be changed and no longer was a Terminator. It was never stated for sure rather the base code was still there.

Also, in T2 he developed a personality too once John taught him the lingo and how to use it. He showed that when he took out the T-1000 after freezing it and the feelings showed again at the end. That's why I still say Cameron was supposed to be ahead of the T-800 but seemed more limited than even that model.

Personally, it makes zero sense to me to leave the base code in place and I thought it was just a given. It's the same analogy as formatting a hard drive and wiping a hard drive. We all know that one method the base code is still there (formatting) and thus poses a high security risk.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

In T2, his line was along the lines of "I know now why you cry, but it's something I could never do." He never developed any emotions at all - he comprehended them, that's all. Cameron on the other hand was designed to emulate human emotions (as an Infiltrator) and it seemed that sometimes she actually had emotions. Having emotions, being programmed to emulate emotions to such an extent that they were for all intents and purposes real, put her model ahead of the Arnie model, imo.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

I don't care if Satan himself liked Friday Night Lights and that's why it's coming back as long as it's coming back.

If premiering on Direct TV mean that a show is as good as it was this season than I say more power to Direct TV.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

95th place! Hell yea its dead. Lets be real here. Even if it came back, you gotta figure they wouldnt want to spend any money on good scripts, and lots of action...That stuff costs big money. Money the show doesnt get a return on, with numbers of viewers. They would be lucky if they could afford 2 people sitting in a room, with those kind of ratings!

Pleeeeeeeeeeease atleast release Season 2 on Blu-ray.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

Realistically, the show's probably dead. (I chalk it up to the very mediocre four-episode arc that spanned the hiatus.) It would be kinda' nice, though, if SciFi (SyFy?) could at least bring it back as a mini-series. Since NBC owns SyFy, though, that's probably not going to happen *unless* T4 is a big enough hit ... It's a shame because I thought that there were at least a dozen episodes this season that were as good or better than anything I've seen on broadcast TV since Firefly. (NOTE that Farscape and BSG were not on broadcast TV.)

News - 'Terminator' Won't Be Back for 3rd Season

More discussion about the shows fate, but it sounds like the same old sources and rumors that EW has been reporting for weeks now. Still, I think it is done and would be very surprised if it comes back.

Was Babylon 5 broadcast TV?

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

For the first four years, (the last was on TNT) but it pre-dated Firefly. It was also first-run syndication, which had its trade-offs: One less layer of management, but the scheduling was such as to make people rethink complaints over a Friday timeslot.

Probably close to what you would pay for bad food, at a good restaurant?

But really, wouldnt you assume the scripts might become bland if they cant afford any action, set pieces, or guest stars?

I could be wrong on how Hollywood writers work, but in the "real world" people with more skill work for more money. Am i wrong about this as far as Hollywood script writers?
Really, if James Cameron wrote a script for the show, would he be paid the same as last weeks writer?

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

Any chance The SciFi channel could pick TSCC, cause it is as scfi as you can get ?

I know lots of people hoped they would pick up Jericho but never happened.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

Half the programming on SciFi has nothing to do with real science fiction. Wrestling? Ghost Hunters?

Actually, this news goes back months, not weeks as I reported earlier in my posts. They even had a story on this in late Oct. 2008 when it was all but known the show was over at that point. That is why I say the writing was just dreadful for most of season 2, not that it was every great but there was some promise there at times.

They knew the show was gone for some time. I think that is also why you saw Summer in an EW insider interview on-line say she felt like her character was nothing more than a cameo role most of this year. She was NOT happy and neither were the core 3 actors for the most part.

Sort of like the music video channels that use to actually play 24 hour music videos. Now it is a "music video channel" in name only. There is no good Sci-Fi channel anywhere. Heck, I would pay for a premium channel if it had no advertising, no editing of shows and was totally focused on content. Especially if they were to do shows like the new Outer Limits on Showtime.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

All,

According to this story (linked through Digg.com) Fox *really has not* decided the fate of the show yet. Also, the producers provide some clarification on the Season finale and where the show will go next season:

No Decision Yet on Dollhouse or Sarah Conner

That's some good news then.

Watch the show live just about every week and would really like to see it return!

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

Nice to know that there's still hope.

I was thinking earlier about what Fox shows weren't canceled but ended their run naturally the way shows should and the only one I can think of is The X-Files. Was there any others? Maybe Melrose Place or Party of 5 or one of those?

Glad there's hope. The little details from BAG regarding Season 3 sound good. I so hope this happens.

If by natural you mean protracted.

Good article. Thanks.

Well, it's interesting but we may not know for a while what the real facts are about the show.

If it comes back, it would mean the articles posted from news sources about Brian Greene moving to another show and Summer saying she is now "available" but wasn't when first asked were wrong. They may be, but I notice that article left those two points out.

Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread

Bryan, there's an article and cover art for season 2 DVD/Blu-Ray at TVShows. It's not an official announcement, and there is no release date, but I think you're going to be able to buy it without worries.

Cracked me right up! As did the other statement about the sets being struck. Uh... the sets were blown up?!? LOL

Glad there is still hope... while the second season wasn't the BEST television I've seen... I'd still like a third.
