Re: "TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" Season 2 Thread
Here's a sensible evaluation of the numbers from someone named Richard:
"Speaking of show ratings, last night's episode pulled about 5.53 million viewers, pretty much what it's been doing the last three episodes. However, they note on the front page that the DVR numbers for episode one pull the show up by another 1.5 million. Episode 2 did about the same. I think as long as the combined live view and DVR numbers are north of six million and the show does well in the 18-49 age slot, even against the new shows coming out, Fox may decide to keep it. We'll see how the numbers look for last week and this week. Fox should make a decision on the possibility of nine more episodes after the committed 13 and whether the show will be renewed after they see those numbers. Right now, it's iffy. But
HBO renewed "True Blood" after just a couple episodes with only four million viewers. Hopefully Fox will give this show time to pull up the ratings. It was the number five best show on episode one, number eight on episode two. And number three of Fox's own shows."
Boy, if this was on HBO, not only would the show get a full season, but it could be more film-like!
And in related news, I am not the only person who thinks that SyFyPortal just makes up their so-called "insider" quotes:
"Before everyone hyperventilates read that bit. I say the guy wrote the article to drum up his hits. ...Though if they are canceling it why are they still casting roles for it?

It may just not get the back 9, but could get another 13 epi season next year. Or small chance it could be canceled, which with the rather slow pace and constantly piling on questions and not providing enough answers, I see why it may be losing ratings. I usually watch it on Hulu.com."
That said, I just exchanged an email with SyFy's Hinman and he protests that his anonymous sources are real. He pointed out that he has been a journalist for 16 years, which I certainly didn't know since the photo makes him look like he's maybe 20 years old. He says he is award-winning and well-respected in his field on the print side, in addition to his online writing. So he insists his insider was telling the truth -- even if, I would add, that the insider said absolutely nothing that wasn't present in the overnight national ratings feed. (Well, his claim that production would be halted was new, but, that sounded like a guess, the same kind of guess any fan would make).
