"Edge of Darkness (2009)", directed by Martin Campbell (pic is based on a 1985 BBC miniseries that Campbell directed):
(IMDB) Edge of Darkness (2009)

First story:
Mel Gibson returns for 'Darkness' - Entertainment News, Film News, Media - Variety

Then sad news - De Niro is out :
De Niro exits 'Edge of Darkness' - Entertainment News, Film News, Media - Variety

""Sometimes things don't work out; it's called creative differences," explained a spokesman for the actor."

Damn. I thought that we would see Gibson and De Niro together... I wonder what happened? I mean it´s not that De Niro is *that* picky with his roles and directors..

It has nothing to do with being picky, but probably like they stated "creative differences".

Thought Gibson made a pretty good comeback with Apocalypto. That was a very good movie.

This'll be Gibson's first starring role since "Signs" 6 years ago.

I like Gibson, both in front of and behind the camera. In both cases, he's a pretty unique brand. His rather, er, "unique" views aside, it'd be hard to argue that he's not one of the greats. And Casino Royale got me a lot more interested in what Martin Campbell does next.

Yeah a shame that DeNiro is out

Unless it was the Deniro who's showed up recently in movies like Meet the Parents.

Deniro really seems to have been phoning it in for a while. Oh well.

It will be great to see Gibson back. Bring it on.

Well said Adam. Totally agree. Gibson is one of the greats. I look forward to this...

Ray Winstone is now replacing De Niro. Not bad news at all, great actor.

Some speculation/rumors here ("Why Robert De Niro left"):

This "unprepared"-rumor at least sounds bogus. De Niro unprepared? I kinda doubt it.

Well, with Gibson and Winstone, this can´t be all bad.

Other small story (about the shoot) here:
