Macbook, what's coming up?

I want a new notebook, and have already decided on a macbook. No question. In fact I was about to order one the other day when I happened to catch a news story about new macbooks being rolled out in October. So I didn't order.

Does anyone know what's coming in the new version of the MB? I have 4 week long work trips in Sept/Oct and won't have much to do at night....usually the type of situation where I'd bring my old notebook (dead) to keep busy and escape boredom.

Can't say I *need* it, but it's a very strong want...Anyone know if it'll be worth the wait?

I'd definitely wait...even if it's a whole month (unlikely.) A boost in storage and processing power is all but guaranteed. A new enclosure (aluminum) has been tossed about the web. Also maybe a multi-touch trackpad. Better graphics and a lower price are also possibilities.

Thank you Michael, I appreciate the reply! In light of this, I'll wait. A storage boost would be well worth it for me.

Tuesday is a major day for MAC. Lots of announcements, though
I am hearing mostly iPod related.

I would also guess that eventually Blu-ray will be incorporated into
these notebooks.

Apple has announced a major event for September 9 called "Let's Rock". The assumption is that primarily the iPod [specifically the Nano, but perhaps other models as well] and the iTouch will be updated. But I certainly wouldn't buy any Apple products until after that event at minimum, unless you need it urgently.

MacBooks won't likely get refreshed this tuesday given delays on Intels side for their new chipset but I wouldn't buy a MacBook until the new versions are released...if only b/c the prices on this years stock will likely drop...but you're going to want the new style from the rumours we're hearing so far.

Carl - buy when you need it. If you need it now, buy it and you'll enjoy it. But if you can afford to wait, wait.
