Bones, season 4 - Page 5

Re: Bones, season 4

L&O recently took on this same topic of girls making a pact to have kids. Let me say, "Bones" is the first one that got it right. This show does such a good job with it's characters; the finale scene with Booth & the kid were great stuff, and a reminder of why he cares about his kid. Good stuff.

I agree. The whole episode was taken up a notch with the final scene of Booth and the 'stud'. Shows Booth as a true 'white hat', and there are few of those on network TV.

I was a bit surprised about how sudden they resolved the Angela/Roxy storyline. I figured there'd be more of a discussion between the two. Oh well, now Nicole is back on In Plain Sight, and Angela and Hodgins can begin their slow trek back towards each other.

I thought Fox said 11 back-to-back new episodes, but once again there will be a 2 week gap.

I think they meant no reruns, not no interruptions. The show is being pre-empted for other things, but isn't treading water by re-airing recently shown episodes to kill time until the next sweeps period. It is a small distinction, but a real one.

A solid episode. The hip Muslim was nice turn, and his gift of the CD mix was gold.

Re: Bones, season 4

There was a plan for no re-runs; however, a presidential address has caused them to reschedule everything, pushing American Idol back one night. No way Fox (or anyone) could have predicted that weeks ago.

the pact is based on the gloucester, ma event i believe. which is from around here =P

Re: Bones, season 4

Cam takes in a child. You know, this show does a really good job of having a storyline and characters you give a damn about.. something a whole lot of the serial/procedurals really fail at. It's good to see that it's got a script renewal for next year, so more Bones to look forward to.

Re: Bones, season 4

That Salt and Pepper thing was just killing me toward the end. That's right dear, it just the hay fever acting up.

The case wasn't terribly interesting, but the other parts of the show were superb. One of my favorites in a long time.

And the whole Angela thing is just killing me.

The rotating group of Not-Zak's is growing on me a bit.

Re: Bones, season 4

I've heard there might be a sort of reunion of several past characters, but I don't know if that includes Dr. Goodman. I hope so.

Re: Bones, season 4

Good episode tonight. I think Fox is trying a new strategy to stop DVR fast-forwards, and it's working. Mixing in bloopers and outtakes in the commercial breaks was smart; and having a mini-show recap at the 30 minute mark in the middle of a break.. yeah, it gets people to slam on the DVR Fast forward.. I think maybe more effective then Fringe & Dollhouse having limited break timing, because when we zapped through I had to go back to catch to make sure we weren't missing something.

The episode itself was pretty cute; you have to love a giant bouncing turkey.

The entire sequence where Sweets had to deal with Angela's dad, and the report in the lab.. Classic "you know that selling your soul bit.. RUN.." Hilarious.

And two new ones Wednesday and Thursday

Re: Bones, season 4

The turkey scene was the best scene of the night for me. I was laughing so freaking hard.

Re: Bones, season 4

Why did the turkey bounce? Even if it didn't break into a thousand pieces, I still pictured it landing like a rock, certainly not bouncing.

Re: Bones, season 4

Actually, they are largely right, it would bounce, though not in remotely the same way that they showed it. If you flash-froze a basketball, filled with mostly air, you'd definitely get a shatter. But flash-freeze a solid object, and it starts to thaw up quickly; by teh time the turkey hits the ground, part of the outer membrane is already thawing. Now, you've got a still hard surface on the inside, and a newly rubbery/gooey surface on the outside.. thus, a bounce, not a shatter. But yeah, you don't get a zip-across the room type bounce like what they showed

We tried something like this in college chemistry once, though I was much more found of the experiment by which you can make an insane bomb out of a 2 liter bottle and pieces of dry ice.

Re: Bones, season 4

One of the brains at that institute said any idiot would know that a frozen person would bounce the same way the turkey did, making Hodgins and Murray idiots for thinking it would shatter.

Re: Bones, season 4

BTW, I asked a friend who's still doing physics and he corrected me some. It's really because it would be so tightly bound together, it wouldn't be thawed at all.. it would be a bit like dropping a rock or a marble was his thought, and he pointed out that dependant on any force going down (if it were thrown by them) you might get a pretty good bounce. So, I was wrong.

Re: Bones, season 4

I thought it would go all T-1000 so the bouncing was a big surprise

Yeah, after melting (or defrosting) and reforming itself into an unstoppable gobbling machine, capable of putting to sleep all who stand in its way!

I came here to post that exact line. Except I think she said "I can't even imagine what it would be like to be as brilliant as you are.", which makes Temperance's reply even funnier. (The whole exchange goes well with her conversation with Booth from last week: "I'm afraid you'll figure out how stupid I am." "I know exactly how stupid you are." I see our Temperance still needs to work on those people skills.)

Re: Bones, season 4

So, from the episode last night, am I to take it that Sweets was beaten (whipped) before 6 years old? I'm no expert on scars, but I would expect scars from THAT long ago, would be a lot fainter.

Also, given what Booth said at the end, does that mean
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
James Garner will appear as his grandfather?

Another episode Monday! Lots of Bones goodness recently.

Re: Bones, season 4

Depends on how heavy the scarring was. Some scars from childhood tend to not fade but get a bit worse as you grow older; scar tissue forms around them and hardens. I have a place on my leg where I had a bike accident at about 7. As a kid, I don't remember it being nearly as gruesome looking as it is now at times.. I just insist to people who see it that it was a bad motorbike accident, rather then a kid who tried to pop a wheelie on a BMX

Re: Bones, season 4

Was last nights episode an old, out of sequence episode? It didn't seem to flow with the rest of the season. They made a big point about how lonely Sweets is, but doesn't he have a girlfriend now? In the episode the previous night, his girlfriend was a major plot point, yet last night they made Sweets seem like a poor lonely sap.

Re: Bones, season 4

Yes, it was an episode that got scrambled out of production sequence.

Re: Bones, season 4

So I’m going to pose a question to the Bones fans on the forum.

I was watching the show with a friend and she thinks that Gordon was referring to Booth as the one who struggles with his feelings for Brennan while I think it is obvious that he was referring to Brennan struggling with her feelings towards Booth.

What do the HTF fans think?

As I recall Gordon said that one of the two stuggles with feelings for the other, while the second isn't even aware of having such feelings. (The implication being that the feelings are there, but totally unacknowledged, not struggled against.) If my memory is correct, I'd say Booth is the one who struggles with his feelings for Bones, while she doesn't know she has them for him. I don't think she struggles with her feelings for Booth at all. When she says, "We're just partners" she's serious. He knows better, but he's keeping it professional.

I agree with this; given how Brennan is usually very open about her thoughts, if she was aware of her feelings, she'd made it known by now. Booth, on the other hand, doesn't want to jepordize the working relationship, so he burys his feelings.

Re: Bones, season 4

Given the well publicized spoiler about what's happening with them near season's end (and I don't mean the "Family Guy" crossover) we'll all know soon enough.
