Yeah, I don't think any show can really live or die on one person but the show has been on a definite upswing for the last few episodes. Although last week's episode didn't rock my socks off the way it did for some people, I really enjoyed this one.

I could watch a whole series about the adventures of Sylar and Denko so I'm digging that story.

I even liked the more comedic stuff with Claire and Nathan in the drinking contest.

The story about Angela's redemption is interesting but at this point, I think the character is way beyond redemption at this point. She could jump on a grenade to save all the characters and I'd still think "That was nice of her but she did so much awful stuff that doesn't really make up for everything else."

Re: Heroes - Season Three

I did like the nod to Star Trek when Sylar transformed back into himself at the end. He looked into the mirror and raised his eyebrow similar to how Spocks brows are.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

One thing that was unclear to me.
Sylar is about to take the power, Head Hunter asks if he knows how to do it without "all the mess".
It looks like Sylar nods, but then the shape shifter starts screaming.
Did he go ahead and rip open his head anyway?
And, its basic Shape Shifter 101, when you die, you revert back to your original shape.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

No, because the body was intact in the bodybag. Noah would have known instantly if he had done that. I guess he used the Elle method to leech this one.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

Wasn't there an episode in the first season where they found one of Sylar's victims missing a brain, where it appeared that it had been somehow sucked out through the nose? I just kinda figured he did something like that...

Re: Heroes - Season Three

I'm glad one of the plot holes from Season One was finally resolved:

In the original timeline, how did Sylar get the shape-shifting girl's power when she blew up before he had ever met her.

Answer: He got the powers from a different shape shifter. Although he apparently learns how to speed up the change sometime in the next five years.

It's a different power completely, as you will recall that Candace's power was of illusion, and that when she died, the illusion died with her and she reverted to her true form (the fat goth chick).

The future seen in "Five Years Gone" has been completely altered--nothing seen in it should be taken as destiny/plot points, outside, of course, of character traits and habits (for example, Sylar being menacing).

Also; he specifically said in that future that he got that particular power from "a girl named Candace".

Well, at least I'm not the only one who thought this show sucked. Hopefully Bryan Fuller can save this show.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

On the other hand, we saw Micah turn on sprinklers and Tracy freeze all the water. That was a heck of a CGI scene in HD. Of course HRG2 had enough foresight to avoid the water, but had no problem sending his men into it.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

This episode was season one caliber, with Sylar and H.R.G. both at the tops of their respective games. The dual themes of Sylar circling around H.R.G. while Parkman circled around Danko works really well. His Eastern European escort just proves that everybody has something to lose. Angela's pleading for H.R.G. to just let Sylar be showed how much she cared for him in a really understated way. H.R.G. might be the only real friend that Angela has, and vice-versa. For the first time in a long time, Ando and Hiro's story was lighthearted without feeling strained or forced. Loved the Japanese Texan who took life-changing revelations in stride. Loved the pay off ("Close One!") when Hiro walks in a millisecond before Matt took a bullet between the eyes.

This was an episode that focused on only the most interesting characters, and took the time to show them doing smart and interesting things. And then brings the core cast together in a spooky "Hills Have Eyes"-esque abandoned settlement in the middle of the desert.

Next week's episode, "1961," looks like it has the potential to be fantastic.(Nothing too spoiler-y, but since Greg requested): Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
From the promo, the girl playing Angela's sister looked the girl who originally played Kelsey Grammer's daughter on "Back to You". Great news if that's the case, because she was one of the best things about the sitcom, which started out much better than it had any right to be.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

I've been loving the last few episodes, but the acting by H.R.G in the 2nd half of the show seemed sub-par and very unlike him. I was completely thrown out of the episode in the scene when he pulls the gun on Danko. From that point until the end, everything just seemed off.

And characterwise, H.R.G. is clever enough to pull the metal out of the corpse to prove it's not Sylar, but then he lets Danko (the man he is insinuating works with Sylar) check the pulse of the supposed Sylar after being shot?

I thought it was an interesting story, I liked the twists they did with the wife. I like that we're supposed to feel sympathetic for H.R.G. and hope his wife gives him another chance, meanwhile we think Danko doesn't deserve his g/f. And I'll even credit Danko's control over his men in the last scene to make H.R.G. forgo checking the pulse himself, but the acting tonight... did anyone else notice this, or am I seeing things?

It showed how Sylar was getting to him. Remember what Sylar said to Danko at the beginning: he's not going to kill H.R.G., he's going to destroy him. The scene where faux-Sandra Bennet presented him with divorce papers rattled him. The scene where he held a gun to real Sandra Bennet's head and very nearly pulled the trigger shattered him. The real question is whether it's real H.R.G. or faux-H.R.G. that got out of the car at Coyote Sands.

Sylar's going to have to die or be de-powered again by the end of the season. As awesome as this episode was, questioning at all times whether each and every character is actually Sylar will undermine the reality of the show.

I actually took away the opposite conclusion: while we like H.R.G. and despise Danko, they're really not all that different and H.R.G. is probably no more deserving of redemption than Danko is, even if his motives are more noble.

At least the early part of that was Noah acting like Sylar with Noah's appearance. I thought it was well done and kind of funny.

Also looking forward to next week for the reason Adam put in spoilers.

I agree with what you both are saying. But they way he pulled the gun and the conversation that followed seemed very awkward.

We are in agreement. That's what I meant to suggest in my post.. I'm sorry for the confusion, it's late.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

It bothered me that they felt the need to show that HRG's wife when she served him with divorce papers was actually Sylar. I mean, wasn't it blatantly obvious to anyone paying attention before they made him change back like that? (Similarly to what people said about the same scene last week.) It seemed unnecessarily heavy-handed.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

Now we're frying the cracklins. That was the best of the last three good ones (hated the Tracy episode). Too bad they didn't get Henry Cho for the trucker, since that's his gag, but the guy did alright.

I don't have a problem with HRG "letting" Danko check the pulse because things were quickly spiraling out of control and he knew that he'd be shot himself any second. It was an odd way to play it, though, since he only had Danko's word on who Sylar was at the time.

I've really liked the last few episodes. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going through the finale and into next season.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

HRG had every reason to think the Unit leader was Sylar, who else would of known about the divorce, but after Sylar didn't heal right away, panic and doubt rushed in and HRG had to get the hell outta there.

I agree that Sylar needs to get a power reduction, this is getting ridiculous. Not only can he heal, he can control things with his mind, and now he can shape shift? That's about equal to a "Powers Trinity".

BTW, Claire looks a lot better with bangs.

The Secret Behind Hayden Panettiere’s New Haircut: Girls in the Beauty Department: Beauty: glamour.com

Apparently dying her hair back and forth between black and blonde for the future scenes in Season Two pretty much destroyed Hayden's hair, so they had to chop it off and let it grow back fresh. That's why her hair looks so fake and awful this season.

In my case, a Google search for "'hayden panettiere' claire wig" lead me to this Yahoo! Answers page which in turn linked me to the Glamour article.
