They called him HRG in the Previously On Heroes clip at the beginning and not in the proper episode so I don't see a problem with it.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Heroes - Season One
Heroes: Season 1 [Blu-ray]
Heroes: Season 2 [Blu-ray]

Yea, I see a huge problem with it.

I didn't even get into the cop buddy sub plot.
I'd love to see Angela with HRG and Sylar in her office...

If I have to explain your shenanigans to the Mayor one more time, I will have your badge!!!

Other than wanting to nitpick every part of the show, what is the problem? I don't see how a narrator referring to a character by his nickname in a recap is so terrible.

Sylar and HRG...unlikely partners...

Re: Heroes - Season Three

Love it!

Listen Sylar, I am not covering for anymore of your brain eating, I have 2 weeks left until retirement!

I also loved how "Fear" man just happened to be outside the bar that Adam walks out of.

Not the other way around.

Well, it's crucial to know what he was called by the show in the very first few episodes. The internet called him "horn-rimmed glasses" from just about the second episode on. It was shortened to HRG very quickly. I know the show didn't get the HRG thing that quickly, and it's my understanding that the characters in the show didn't start referring to his glasses until we did. They were mainly playing with him starting to say his name and getting cut off.

IIRC, someone said in one of the Blu-Ray commentaries that he was only ever called HRG in the scripts.

HRG,
"Your not tryin' to draw a psycho pension...you really are crazy."

Sylar,
"I'm hungry, i'm gonna go get someone to eat."

I know he said he doesn't eat brains but these jokes would have worked last season lol.

So, taking blood from the hot latina with the black tear power and you turn into a bug, complete with some mystery web ability?

That's not what happened to Mohinder. He's a genetics professor. Taking Maya's blood was the first step in continuing his understanding of where the abilities come from. I believe he ended up saying it had something to do with Adrenalin. Regardless, it isn't like you inject Maya's blood and develop an ability. In fact, we don't even know that injecting Claire's blood gives you an ability. I'm on the side that says it brings you back to health, but that's it. Like an aspirin, when her blood is filtered out of your system (via liver?), that's it. Get hurt again and you'll need more of her blood.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

On Ando, here is one possibility. They said Parkman can make people see what he wants. Maybe Parkman was now with Hiro and Ando and made the other 2 see Hiro stab Ando.

FINALLY !!!!
Someone on the show mentioned destroying the formula. Adam said he "told them" to destroy it. Of course, I would still like to find out why they chose not to.

This has really been bugging me. See I think Hiro would have said, "dis formula is too dangewous to safeguard, so it mus be destwoyed".

Re: Heroes - Season Three

"Pac-man", LOL.

Peter snapping Sylar's neck just like that was an "oh shit" moment at my house.

So daddy Petrelli is so powerful that even in a comma he can run things. And he froze mommy Petrelli? Good choice BTW in choosing Robert Foster. I like that dude.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

maybe this explains why the Haitian couldn't null Nathan's flying ability? he can only null natural Supers?

Re: Heroes - Season Three

Heroes has had some great guest stars. Sulu, Shaft (!), Zod. I agree that Robert Forster is a great addition to the cast. Hopefully he'll last longer than Bubbles (Vortex).

Re: Heroes - Season Three

Bubbles - He has been getting the short end of the stick for several years now. I have to admit that I kind of wish he would have wore a red hat.

Does anyone have natural power?

I wonder what it's going to be like when Vortex Guy meets his neighbor in the void. Do you think the guy's a raving loony by now?

Does anyone have a natural power? Adam does for sure. I think most of the old guard does. Micah does, so some of the people Nathan's age must as well.

Well then, how do you account for Peter? He nullified Peter's power and he was tested on also.

Did they definitively say that Peter did not have natural abilities? I don't remember hearing that, but I could have missed it.

And, as far as we know, everyone else except Nikki/Tracy/Barbara, Nathan and Mohinder.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

I've realized the biggest problem of this show is that almost everyone in the show now has super powers. There is very limited interaction with people who don't have super powers. In fact, we're basically down to HRG as a steady character with no super powers.

There is something to be said for having normal people around to act as that contrast - the people that these "supers" are trying to save.

The cast is big, but it's big with everyone with powers that wink in and out at whim seemingly, so you can't hardly care about them.. three villains escape and get wiped out in a bank robbery - ho hum. Guy can open vortexes, he's the freak of the week.

Mohinder helped make the show interesting as a normal person trying to understand what made people special; now they've turned him into a warped special person and so he's lost his ability to act as our eyes in their universe.

I'm not saying "this sucks" I was just talking about this with someone, and they mentioned that they had a hard time following because everyone had super powers.

If this many people all had super powers everywhere, you'd think it'd be an impossible secret to keep
post #351 of 1128

Re: Heroes - Season Three

How do we know for sure any of these people have "natural" super powers? I don't think Adam really proves anything. We don't know for sure which time period he's originally from.

Re: Heroes - Season Three

I really don't like Mohinder having super powers. Nor do I like the drastic personality change. I get where they're going with the ambiguity, but I liked when the show had good guys and bad guys. At this point, I'm having trouble rooting for anyone. I'm a fan of the show, and yet for one fleeting moment, I thought, "Just open up a Vortex and suck in the whole show." Help me out, guys. Who do we root for?

"Can you do this?" seemed like a reminder to the audience of what Claire's mother can do. I'd much rather see her use her powers when they're needed, not to toast marshmallows or light cigarettes (made up examples).

Re: Heroes - Season Three

I need to re-watch, but one thing struck me as odd: HRG was saying to Sylar that it's always "one of us, one of you", meaning a "normal" and a "superpower" working as a team.

At one point in the last few eps (I watched all 5 in the space of this week, catching up) Angela Petrelli was saying something similar, but IIRC she said "one of us, one of you" to someone WITH superpowers (could be Elle), implying she didn't. That makes no sense... did I recall wrongly? Or was she just hiding the fact that she has powers, since this doesn't seem to be generally known, even amongst those with powers?

Come to think of it, did Hiro's father have powers, and if so, what?

Re: Heroes - Season Three

The "one of us, one them" notion has been around since early in the first season - Claude remarked that that was how the Company did things. Do you recall which episode Angela said that phrase to Elle (possibly)?

The second one's not made up, I seem to remember a few instances where she did that.

Hiro's father having super powers is a spoiler. I know it because I saw some preview with him in it. If this is common knowledge, I apologize.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
In the scene, Hiro's father shows Ando how he can read a newspaper and find out which stock's to buy. The scene mirrors the one in Beautiful Mind where the paper is like a puzzle that gets put together.
He is the financial arm of the "company".

Well he has help... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Since Elle's father (now dead) could turn things to gold. Which he says helps fund the company.

Well, maybe he was talking about his legit company in Tokyo, I don't remember.

That is actually from a deleted scene from the first episode of season 2. I don't know if that counts as a spoiler or not (and it may or may not be canon).

Can someone refresh my memory? What happened to Elle? I seem to have forgotten.
