Because NBC gave their 10:00 PM hour to Jay Leno, so they only have room to support one at a time. And NBC always goes for the shortsighted decision, which means giving the push to the higher-rated but plummeting series over the lower-rated but growing series.

Yes this is noted in the Season 3 thread.  A January return is not out of the question.  Should know when NBC announces its midseason lining around the end of the month.
