Its near the top of my list too. The real strength of the show is the cast. The other aspects shine occasionally but week in and week out the actors are just are fun bunch of people to spend time with.

Is it me or does Jordana Brewster have no upper lip?

Re: Chuck season 2

One of the great things about this show is how they get all the little things right, and stack jokes on top of one another. Did anyone else notice that during one of Morgan's scenes on the Buy More sales floor (I think when he confronted Chuck about Jill?) the wall of TVs behind him was showing the Merrie Melodies classic, "What's Opera, Doc?"

I also loved when Casey was boosting Chuck into the vent and - well, let's just say that Chuck probably would have preferred to end up in that position with Sarah.

Regards,

Joe

It is very thin. But I could forgive a flaw like that, all things considered.

Re: Chuck season 2

It looked like Jordana got some bolt-on upgrades.

Wow!

Tricia Helfer of BSG fame has been signed on as Agent Alex Forrest a potential replacement for Sarah!

Episode 2.18 is going to really stir things up. This season is turning out so awesome!

The article said...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
...she would only be in the one episode so I doubt things will be quite so stirred by the time the credits roll.

Sorry did not mean to mislead. It will make for a great episode though.

Re: Chuck season 2

Some of this stuff should be spoilered. Whether that turns out to be the case or not, I'd rather hear about it when watching the show.

Ooops sorry - next time I promise.

I like your enthusiasm about the show. No harm done.

Re: Chuck season 2

Thanks. Too bad more folks don't check out this show. Chuck is one show that really has benefited from the writer's strike. The second season has been quite a big step up from the first one.

Re: Chuck season 2

Good but not great finish to the Jill arc. The Leader was a totally wasted character. The payoff did not match the buildup.

Still the episode shone in the geek references and comedy. Big Mike's takedown of Leader was awesome. Chuck's line - 'You're under arrest Jill. And I'm breaking up with you,' was golden. The Wrath of Khan moment between Lester and Morgan was great. The gravitron and house of mirrors sequences were well done too.

To tell the truth, I did not expect Big Mike to take down Leader. I thought he was going to arrive after Casey had taken down Leader and the shop was all a shambles. This was much better. The other moments you mention were great as well.

Re: Chuck season 2

One little thing that bothered me that could've easily been resolved though. After Jill shoots Leader, they didn't even send anyone in to check for his body. How would they have known he was still alive?

I understood that to have all happened off camera. They did not find a body, questioned Jill as to his likely whereabouts, and found the location of the covert medical team.

Re: Chuck season 2

That was a bother. There should have been a simple line like, "He's gone!"

I was about to lose all respect for Chuck at the end and was extremely relieved when it turned out he had led Jill into a trap.

I knew it would end with a family scene and was not disappointed.

Some great casting is coming up the next few weeks.

His character is starting to get old. We get the same shtick from Chuck week after week anymore. That moment and Chuck reprogramming Castle was a nice change of pace.

My favorite moment, though, was when Leader had Casey pinned down and Big Mike comes out of nowhere in dramatic slo-mo to tackle him. The physicality of Mark Christopher Lawrence coupled with that fishing outfit and the setup was just perfect.

The insert shot of the Leader guy looking at his gun and knowing that he could not take it off of Casey really helped to sell it, too.

I know. Hope we see some growth and change. Or you loose respect for the main character and you look forward to the supporting characters whom aren't as inept.

Re: Chuck season 2

Stellar episode tonight!

First off the big news - Ellie and Chuck's Dad is alive! Ellie wants her dad to walk her down the aisle and Chuck has promised Ellie to find her.

Great mix of comedy, action, Casey badassery, and nice moments between Chuck and Sarah + a nice one at the end between Casey and Chuck. Plus Sarah admitted to Casey she cares about Chuck.

Best episode this season! Woot!

Re: Chuck season 2

What are the odds that Chuck's dad is either a CIA or Fulcrum agent.

Re: Chuck season 2

Even money I wager. Double or nothing their mother is a spy too.

The father is CIA and the mother is Fulcrum.

We knew that from last year's Thanksgiving episode. Well, we didn't know for sure that he was alive, but we knew he was out of the picture because he abandoned them, not because he'd died.

For me it was the same old, same old. Like any given episode of the The A*Team, I watch knowing I'm going to like the recipe. Unlike The A*Team, I still hold out some expectation of growth. The Jill arc seemed to offer that. This week was back to the status quo.

What elevated this one so far above the rest for you? Other than Chuck announcing that he was going to find their father, nothing particularly stood out to me.

Re: Chuck season 2

It was sort of nice to see "Dixon" from Alias as another master spy on Casey's sensei. We did get to see a little bit of Casey's background as well, even some begrudging gratitude on his part. Now, not all too invested in the wedding subplot, even if it's a way to bring their dad back into the picture. Now, the Napolean Dynamite clone working at Buy More, that was unexpected.

Re: Chuck season 2

Speaking of working at Buy More, whatever happened to Julia Ling's character? Despite being bumped up to supporting regular this season, we've seen even less of Anna than we did as a recurring role in season one.

I think the actress is shooting a movie. The producers are probably accomodating her by writing her character out for a few episodes.
