American Idol - Season 8 - Page 7

Re: American Idol - Season 8

What is it with the love of that song 'Before He Cheats'? It's about an insane and psychotic woman who commits a crime by destroying someone's car.

Really? Nick Mitchell?

Who was Nick Mitchell? Was he the one that messed up playing the piano?

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I'm not too thrilled about more air time for Tatiana.

He's the clown in the loud shirt who can't decide who he is.

Makes it into the top 32.

As for Tatiana Todd I to wanted to throw something at the TV. Hopefully she gets booted in the last cut but I don't believe so.

Carrie is beatiful and talented and I'm glad for her success, but I hate her material. I would never buy one of her albums. The pathetic thing is that some label that as a song from a "strong woman." Riight. Just like "You Oughta Know" was supposedly about a strong woman. A strong woman who couldn't get over a man who dumped her?

I'm usually out of sync with all of y'all here, so I'll probably be laughed at when I say that I found group one to be incredibly strong. The first impression is that there were some of the best voices in the three seasons I've watched in that group. I would have been shocked if they hadn't made it.

I hate Tatiana. It's all about ME, ME, ME. There are a dozen other people in the room feeling the same thing you are, buttface. UGH!

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I'm just glad that she was helpful enough to "carve her name into his leather seats" because it implicates her in the crime and she's then arrested and put away for a long time.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Tatiana wasn't all THAT bad. She needs work but she wasn't the worst. However her ego will destroy any attempts at a career. It makes me wonder, half in jest, after seeing her reaction when the judges walked in the room, if they were just pushing her through so they wouldn't have to deal with her rejection.

Can you imagine the scene if she gets cut in the private meeting? Security will have to drag her out. And it looks like starting next week groups of 12 perform and the top three of each make it through. I think it would be easier on the judges if WE send her home, and much more entertaining to watch her meltdown on live tv.

Boy, talk about letting your Ethel Merman flag fly! For a minute I thought he would break into There's No Business Like Show Business. Wow -- way too much.

Finally get to see Casey sing for the first time since the auditions and it's to showcase her screwing up the words. Great.

I have no idea why anyone stood and cheered for Scott the blind guy other than to say, "you go, blind guy!" Because it didn't really sound all that great.

I did notice both last week and last night that a lot of the really shouty singers from the auditions have toned it down like Jamar (Danny Gokey's friend) and the girl with the pink highlights who looks like Macauley Culkin. Lil Rounds, however, was still attempting to peel the paint off the walls. Her mic was distorting from the sound pressure.

Matt the dueling piano guy was the highlight of the night for me. If he can make a fresh sound arrangement of the same old songs Idol picks (but not make it sound like an Ethel Merman veersion a la Lambert) I can see him going very far in the competition. He certainly has the vocal chops.

Tatiana's dream of becoming famous looks like it's coming true. Although, it appears to be more infamy that fame. Be careful what you wish for.

I disagree! I think she will make it to the Top 12 at least. Alot of people can't stand her, but she's great "watercooler talk" and AI needs that this year. She's the new Sanjaya!

Couldn't agree more with your post. I also can't stand Tatiana and think she is certainly one certifiable crazy woman just waiting to go off the deep end. Seriously, no joking, I wouldn't be surprised by anything she did in real life and think she may be very dangerous. Certainly would never turn my back around her ever.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I agree with Tatiana. She has a good voice. But, then ruins it. For example when she was performing yesterday. She sounded good. But, then at the end she started "showing off" by changing the sounds and adding stuff. Even the judges gave the "She's showboating" look. I do believe they are keeping her and Nick Mitchell for the drama or humor they bring.

But, seriously. What was with Tatiana when the judges came into the room to tell them her fate? She looked like she was going have a breakdown.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Tatiana is extremely distburbing and just well, extreme.

She also demonstrates a lot of what's wrong today - she wants to be a star as opposed to wanting to be a professional singer doing a style of music that she likes. She's not an artist (this goes for many on the show and sadly many on the charts).

Her wildly awful never ending end to her song really is a great example of this.

Her antics are probably what the producers think are gold right now.

I personally think that the produces intervened and saved her.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Tatiana is so polarizing. How can she NOT make the top 12? Great voice, even nuttier than Paula. It's TV gold!

Madame Lambert chooses a Cher song? Are you kidding? The public does not want a female impersonator for the next AI. Tone it down, use your pipes, and do something different or you aren't going to last.

Danny and his pal are top 12 locks. So is blind dude...because as Hanson says...he's blind.

Casey is top 12. She's just too hot.

Matt is top 12. He's very good.

The 16 year old girl is top 12. Great story, good voice.

And, I think a male wins this year again. They are just better.

That would only make sense if everyone was talking about her the next day to almost the exclusion of all else.

The biggest difference between Tatiana and Sanjaya is: a lot of people genuinely liked Sanjaya. No one likes Tatiana. I suspect her parents don't even like Tatiana. Her pathetic desperation and narcissism are complete turn offs. She will not make it out of the top 36.

I think they've kept her around just for that. I think Tatiana gets cut tonight. Even if she doesn't get cut tonight, there's no way she makes top 12. [Namath]I guarantee it.[/Namath]

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Pardon my spelling, but I'm going to miss LaNeisha. Hope she tries again next year. Don't recall her earlier stuff, but I thought she was pretty good last night and certainly should have made the first cut.

Was really surprised they dropped her, especially to keep a twit like Tatiana. Must have needed somebody as full of themselves as bikini girl.

Adam Lambert does need to tone it down a touch. David Cook could also pull off those vocal acrobatics, but he didn't have to show it off every time.

Why oh why are they keeping Nick? Guess there has to be some comic relief, but the guy doesn't stand a chance.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Can you imagine your a decent singer who spent their who life preparing for something like this. It means the world to you. Then you get cut and then see that Nick Mitchell who makes a joke of the whole thing gets through. Doh!!

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I like Tatiana for the trainwreck factor. Plus I feel bad that the show is making it so obvious that they want us to hate her.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Good god! It's bad enough Tatiana made it through. But, to have to hear her screaching after getting through made my ears bleed. And did you see when they showed the group shot...She was posing.

It really is quite bizarre just how deluded, self-centred and plain psycho Tatiana is. What was really funny was Seacrest's VO, when he said the rest in her new room were trying to figure out whether her joining them was a good thing, or bad. The other funny moment was when the bald welder simply asked, in response to all the teasing the judges were throwing, "So that's a NO, right?", matter-of-fact and just to get it over with. Kudos to him, now that's one grounded fellow, and heck he's a pretty good singer too and I hope he goes far.

Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle wasn't that good a singer anyway. He'll get cut soon, I think, but was probably kept on for entertainment factor.

From the previews over the end-credits, Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I'd guess when Danny cries out in anguish "no way", it's in response to his best friend Jamar getting cut, whereas I expect Danny to make it through.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Actually, I think I've turned the corner on Tatiana, not rooting for her, but her narcissistic bubbliness makes for good TV.

Too bad Jamar had to keep wearing his hat in that stupid way, maybe he would have gone a little further is he'd ditch the hat.

So they spent 2 hours of airtime to cut 18 contestants tonight. Sheesh.

I think I'd be okay with next week's line-up as the actual final 12, but I guess only 4 are going through from this first group, and that's unfortunate because it's a pretty decent line-up, easily on par with the last 4 season's final 12 line-ups.

It's not the "narcissistic bubbliness" or anything else described as a cute train wreck. Clearly this is no where close to the same type of purposful display shown by others nor from most years past like Synjaya (?). You can't just laugh this off as I truly believe it lies much deeper than what others think is pretense. She is displaying all the personality traits of someone that is deeply disturbed and in dire need of professional mental therapy. All it will take is one thing in her life to set her off and as I said before, I would not turn my back around her ever. It appears she suffers from a great number of afflictions that can be triggered and is a time bomb waiting to go off. I hope someone will get her the help she so desperatly needs.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

The room didn't seem too thrilled when she made it through.

I wasn't fond of that redhead at all. Can't remember her name. Something with a J. I've heard others with her vocal style. It makes her sound retarded, if that isn't too unPC to say.

But not before we finish being entertained by her. Because short of death or serious injury, it's all good. The degree of entertainment lies in how close we can get without going over that line. And that's on national TV.

Go look at a chat room or forum that's talking about some horrific incident and you'll find people entertained by it. Heck, there are even stories of people committing suicide while in chat rooms as other chat room participants cheered.

We are, after all, the country that sat and watched Britney shave her head bald with a smile before we thought "hmmm... maybe..." We'd catch every downward spiral moment on film and make fun of her for our enjoyment ("Hey, I feel better, look how screwed up she is!") up until the point where she commits suicide, then call it tragic.

The Romans had the Gladiators fight to the death for their entertainment. I'm not so sure if they were less evolved or just more honest. The Running Man was supposed to be a parody. I think.

You just wait and see how people will vote to keep both Nick and tatiana in just for pure entertainment. This is why I hate AI now. It is no longer about singing than it is about exploiting people who are obviously sick or deluded.

I really like Matt, Danny and Anoop.
