American Idol - Season 8 - Page 6

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I am glad Normund Gentle (Nick Mitchell) made it through. Makes the show fun to watch

Re: American Idol - Season 8

That was painful to watch. Other than maybe a couple groups that sounded good together, everyone else they actually did show singing were horrible. I am also quite irritated that they showed more drama crap than actual singing. I thought the whole point of this show was sining.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

It was a good 30 minutes in to the show before we saw anyone sing and at that we seen very little singing. All this Hollywood crap is drama, people walking the long walk to the final judges table, people riding elevators, people sight seeing and fluff.

Something is wrong with your memory or something:

Campus Girls USA - Casey Carlson - University of Minnesota - Girls of the Big10

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Hey, my memory is full of junk like the attic in Black Christmas--one too many dead people wrapped in cellophane in a rocking chair and something has to fall out.

Besides, didn't you say it was an Asian thing and I wouldn't understand?

I understand now. I've been hung up on jean jacket (girl who was given a second audition), but I realize now that I've been wrong. I am humbled by Bubble Tea Girl.

I may not be wrong about that -- like, I'm sure Patrick didn't forget about Casey. It could be American Idol season 25 and we would still remember "bubble tea maker".

This is the AMERICAN IDOL thread. You're thinking of some other show.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I can not believe that annoying, fake, loud, psycho chick who was praising "God" after making it through and after she tormented her group all night is still there.
She makes me want to throw the remote through the TV, argghhh!!!
I just can't believe people like her really exist. Such an act it's eye gougingly painful to watch.

Jeff...Just for you!

Now if you'll excuse me. I am going to stab something in my ears.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I can't stand Tatiana either.

More Casey, please.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

What about Lambert? He's got a great voice but he also sounds a bit...uhm...queenish. And, I don't mean the band. Too much of an Ethel Merman quality. Still, I think he'll do ok.

I can't believe I actually watched that knowing what it was going to be.
Man, I can not stand her!!

I'm thinking the judges kept her and Katrina (ugh) on so we could witness their EPIC MELTDOWNS next week when they get dumped hard.

Unless, for whatever reason, they make it, in which case, I am done with AI this season.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Katrina already got cut.

Yes. And no. Like the audition episodes, these early shows are more about the process. I enjoy the Hollywood episodes because you get to see some of what the contestants will be going through during the actual contest, with bonus drama. That is, the hard work, memorizing songs, working with people you don't necessarily like, etc. You don't just audition then make it on the show. There's a lot more going on.

What I've noticed on these Hollywood eps is that the groups who picked a song and got down to working out the vocals did very well. Those that spent more time on incorporating dance moves, etc, failed and were under prepared.

I think it'll be interesting to see if Adam Lambert catches on with the general AI voting audience because he does have both a solid voice and theatrical training to liven up the stage when he performs.

I was saying the exact same things during the show - WHY are they spending so much time on dance moves - this is a SINGING show...

Spend time on the song and you will have plenty of time to get it right.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

The group that had the guy whose wife died was great. Set the bar very high.

Adding to her annoyance factor is the way she plays with her hair as she's laughing...

IIRC, 75 people made it through...I wonder how many of them we STILL have not actually heard sing?

And a little help needed...does anyone know who sings the version of "California Dreaming" that was played near the close of Wednesday night's show?

Re: American Idol - Season 8

My memory says it was Jose Feliciano, but I wasn't paying that much attention.

Edit: Here you go:

I get that. I just meant that it seems these earlier episodes focus more on the drama than actually showing anyone singing. I understand the process of actually working with others, but atleast SHOW us some actual singing.

In the words of Simon Cowell, "This is a sing-ing com-pe-ti-tion..."

Re: American Idol - Season 8

So far this season has been pretty dull. I'm glad they cut back on the trainwreck auditions, but way to much back-story on just a small group of people, how about what people above me have mentioned, some SINGING.

As the audience for the show, we don't even know what they're cutting. Have we even heard half of the 75 left? Guess it's becoming more and more like Survivor, being heavily edited so they decide the favorites for us, while letting some real duds get through to stir things up.

Hopefully things will improve after the cuts next week.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Think of how disapointing it is for some of the contestants. There are dozens of contestants who made it all the way to the second round of cuts in Hollywood before being sent home. They sit down to watch Idol only to find out their screen time amounted to 1 or 2 seconds in the background during a "quick flash" scene.

Because it's all about the drama. Like that 3 person singing group with the girl who needed to rest her voice and the whiny white kid. Then at the end. The black girl gets the boot and they move on. Or just think about the bikini girl nonsense.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

What bugged me the most was that they spent so freakin' long on the "Divas," the girl who left her group and came back, and especially that trio Todd referred to, and none of them were entertaining nor anything we hadn't seen before in Hollywood Week.

I cannot believe Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Tatiana made it through. Just watch how she reacts when the judges came into the final room. I just want to change the channel or actually throw my remote at the tv.
