I'm sorry...Kris is BY FAR the least talented person to ever make the finals.

Backup vocals by Rick Flair..."Whooooooo!!"

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Now the question will be, who gets the votes from the Gokey voters, I'd venture Kris might have the upper hand in that demographic.

I'm afraid that honor belongs to Blake Lewis. Kris lacks pretty much everything an Idol is supposed to have, but he's still more talented than Blake Lewis.

And on the issue of Kris stealing the acoustic arrangment for Heartless, I think I'm going to agree with... Josh. Arranging rap songs for guitar isn't all that unusual nor is it startlingly original. Case in point, there were already three non-rap versions of Heartless before Kris did his. And as much as I liked it, Kris' was vanilla enough to just be a generic acoutic arrangment and not a specific copy of a specific arrangement. That said, Kris did rely heavily on a Sting's arrangement of Ain't No Sunshine and his "Bob Dylan" cover of To Make You Feel My Love was really Adele's version. He took credit for the arrangements both times.

On a happier subject, Katy Perry is like Zooey Deschanel with big boobs and longer legs! Win win! Win! Triple win!

Patrick, I am leaning to a Kris win because the Gokey voters hate Adam. This is why it would have been better for Adam to face off against Gokey, since everyone hates Gokey and Adam would have won walking away. It appears the weight of all that hate finally caught up with Gokey, as he couldn't pick up any votes from the ejected contestants. Gokey may be the most reviled contestant in AI history. Even more than Constantine.

Glad Gokey is out. He drove me crazy.

I thought she looked very sexy in the Elvis outfit!!!!!!

Speaking of which...WOW!!!!!!! The Jordin Sparks Idol Bowl VI winner is now somebody else two years later!!!!!!!! Star March 23, 2009 secondary cover feature story anyone, featuring the Idol Bowl I winner, Kelly Clarkson, as well as Ms. Sparks?????

So it is Adam and Kris in Idol Bowl VIII.

This ought to be fun.

But please stay tuned in the coming week ahead, cousins!!!!! For, as Bloody Ol' Simon said, this game could turn out to be a real ding-dong a la Super Bowl XLII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. It reminded my of early Mariah Carey; when she'd go into her ultra high falsetto on every. single. song.

I wish he'd just sing a song straight.

BTW - As much as I enjoy Katy Perry, I was annoyed by the blatant Adam advertising. I was expecting nods to the other two, but there weren't any.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Holy Crap Batman!

I wake up this morning to find that Gokey is out?!

I am sort of shocked.

I also share the concern that Adam may be upset by Gokey
voters who will give their votes to Kris. On the other hand, for
Adam not to win this would be a huge upset. In my opinion,
Adam is the best contestant ever to grace the Idol stage.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

It will all come down to their last performances. I think Adam will give us something that we'll remember and I predict a finale like we never seen before.

Adam wins ... and it will be easy.

Is there some way I can decipher this without trying to locate the March 23, 2009 issue of a magazine I don't read? I think you're saying Jordin Sparks looks and acts much different at 18 than she did at 16.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I don't think I could identify Jordin Sparks via her voice if I heard it on the radio, her voice is just very nondescript. Her performance last night just felt forced, not a good song.

I enjoyed staring at Katy Perry for her obvious physical attributes, but I also employed the mute button during most of the performance because her vocals are woefully thin, almost grating at times from her pushing the limits of her 1-octave vocal range.

Agreed on both counts. Jordin was trying to be Beyonce' and failed. I liked the chorus of the song -- that's about it.

Katie Perry needed pants. She looked like she was wearing a diaper. Otherwise -- those eyes, those breasticles. Yeah, I'm a fan.

After Adam's two unspectacular performances last week, people still expect him to do something amazing next time? I'm not convinced he can.

Katy Perry is foxy, and you know what? Her record isn't bad either! Seriously!

Re: American Idol - Season 8

I think Kris will win because american LOVES the underdog and he is the mother of all underdogs in terms of talent and ability.

One thing I'd like to see for the final 3 at least is for these guys to perform full songs. The Studio version of One is brilliant as adam reprises the roles of both Blige and Bono (and no "screeching" for the deficient among us ):

YouTube - One - Adam Lambert, studio

Re: American Idol - Season 8

+1 on Katy Perry... I think Hanson hit the nail on the head there.

Question - anyone have a screencap of Kris' reaction to Simon's prediction about next week's show (that it'll be "a big ding-dong")? His face was PRICELESS!

This is what I actually meant, Mikah:

During Season 6 Jordin dressed more conservatively than she clearly did last night. When she sang at Super Bowl XLII, she still dressed modestly in her black sleeveless dress which was knee-length. When she won Idol Bowl VI, she wore a floor-length gown when she performed "This Is My Now". Each of the dresses I remember her wearing that season were as modest as her SB dress--at the knees as well.

I did not expect to see what I saw last night in watching her in a rather provocative mini-dress tapered about her curves. That's all. Otherwise, I applaud her for being daring and maybe coming a little out of her shell somewhat?

And as for the March 23, 2009 Star magazine issue, a feature story is that of celebrity women proudly showing off--and loving--their curves. No, it is not the cover story as I originally posted--my bad!--but it is a secondary cover feature. Amongst the 14 women happily proud of their curvacious bods in the mag are Kelly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks!!!!!!!!

I think Kris will win because America KNOWS he's straight. I don't see the bulk of this country voting for a (presumed) gay American Idol.

Sadly the press has once again made this an issue with recent stories of speculation (see last week's EW cover story, for example), as if it has any relevance at all to the competition or Adam's talents. But it WILL hurt him with votes in the final.

I think these pictures mitigate some of that certainty:

They've been around for a while, but no one cared enough about Kris to publicize them.

She's friends with Adam in 'real life'. She's a fan, and she was allowed to communicate it. I don't see a problem.

Yep, on paper I should hate everything about that album--and Katy herself, but I absolutely love her. I had no idea she was going to perform and for only the second time this season I actually watched one of the guest performers (the first being the disappointing No Doubt return).

I know Adam has it in the bag, but I may actually vote for Kris just to stick it to the man.

Nah...while that might play a small role, I just can't see america voting for goliath when they have a choice.

As for all the complaining about the "pimping" adam gets...does it occur to anyone that he gets that because he is that good? When someone demolishes the competition what do you expect the judges to say? Even his 'off' performances are leagues better (talentwise) than anyone else.

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Pimping is when you get to close the show four times and three out of the last three shows. Or when you sing in the first half only once all season. Or having a lion's share of face time, both during the auditions and chit chatting with Ryan before songs. Stuff like allowing the musical guest wear his name on her clothing. Or Simon pleading viewers to make sure to vote.

In the "Maybe pimping" category is the showy lighting Adam always gets (I'm not sure how much input the contestants have) and having songs like One cleared for him at the last minute (although that may be an over-dramatization on Simon's part, but it did make it seem like Adam was annointed by Bono).

The excessive praise isn't itself pimping since Adam clearly backs it up, but the fawning on the part of the judges is embarassing.

Interesting tidbit on the clothing: the Idols are given $400 per song to buy outfits. It's not a limit -- if they want to go over, it comes out of their pocket. Adam reportedly has blown way past his budget -- the white suit he wore on Rat Pack night cost $1700.

Right. Which is why at the beginning of the top 10, they all look ok, but nothing special. Then, the closer you get to top 5 and beyond, they start looking 10 times better. Why? How? It becomes clear who the front-runners are, they all get approached by agents and made offers, and they can begin to borrow against that future.

Phil, every time I see Adam I think of Joann Worley and it's starting to drive me nuts!!! Maybe they're related.

I absolutely disagree. While I'm not a huge fan of the beat-boxing and such, Blake Lewis had ten times Chimpy's personality.

On this I don't disagree so much.

You know what would've made last night perfect? If during Jordin Sparks' end-of-song pose, Pat Benatar walked out on stage and smacked her.

But ten times zero is still zero Actually, Blake had negative personality -- whenever he talked, I wanted to punch him in the face. Kris doesn't elicit that kind of reaction from me. Plus, Kris can outsing Blake (granted, dogs can outsing Blake).

Re: American Idol - Season 8

Re: Adam pimping

I question the whole "I called Bono to clear the song" story...since Elliot Yamin and Mary J Blige already performed it previously.

I was surprised by the pimping done by Katy Perry, although it was after the voting was closed.

As far as the finale goes, if Kris wins, it's a win-win for both contestants. I think the powers-that-be would be more willing to produce and promote Kris' brand of adult/acoustic pop and Adam would be able to make a record that could be true to who he is. BTW, has anyone noticed that Adam and Kris actually seem to be pretty close friends? They seem more supportive of each other than Danny, Matt and Anoop ever were. Although Adam and Allison seemed to have that bond also.
