I was reading on the AVS forum that many people recommend running a special burn in DVD for 150 hrs before watching them too much or even calibrating them. Does anyone here have any info or input on this process?

Re: Pio 5010 question
GreetingsActually not that necessary. Just watch stuff and be reasonable with what you watch. Avoid 4:3 material with bars on the sides.
If you are doing self calibration ... do it right away ... and do it whenever you wish. The disc will not self destruct.
If hiring a professional to come work on the set ... then 100-150 hours on it is a good idea especially if the person is a traveling calibrator. (not from your area)
For a local calibrator ... break in is a non-issue. Get him to do it now ... and to come back in 4 months on the same "dime" to re-check the system. He won't say no to that if he is smart.
The whole 150 hour before calibration thing is a overly simplified urban myth ... and people have simply forgotten the original reasons for doing it.
regards
