Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

^The stuffing flying across the room was undeniably hysterical.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Supernatural: The Complete Fourth Season [Blu-ray]

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Wow, no comments yet on the hookup scene between Sam and Ruby on last week's ep. Thought it was done really well, especially Dean's reaction about the graphic imagery.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

I enjoyed it. Plus, the brothers got their butts handed to them by the tough marine from Aliens.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Damn! I thought I recognized that guy from somewhere. I think he also played a serial killer in the first season of B5 on one episode. Anyway, going with an original poster's interest in demon eye colors, Alistair's eyes (or eye films, whatever) were white like Lilith's. Wonder how long it'll be before the writer's explain all the different colors; yellow, white, red and black.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Was getting a little "Dogma" vibe from tonight's episode. Did love the little comments to Dean from Sam...Porno..reality. "A demon and an angel in the backseat...."

Nice acting range from Jensen Ackles at the end of the episode.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

It'll be really interesting to see if Anna comes back and possesses a woman in order to be with Dean just like Ruby is with Sam. This is getting to be one powerful group, you just know Dean is going to come up with some kind of power. And the revelation from Anna about only four angels having seen God makes you wonder if the prohibition against Sam using his powers to exorcise demons actually came from God or some nervous angels. This show's story arc just keeps getting better. I just really hope Anna's character comes back to play a major continuing role.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Creatively speaking Supernatural is hitting its stride in a big way this season. Very solid situations, character actions and choices, the stuff of great drama. It will be tough to wait 2 months for the next new episode.

I don't know if she'd need to - Castiel apparently does (though his is willing), but Anna (a) didn't leave a corpse behind and (b) implied that she's senior and more powerful than Castiel.

Good stuff, anyway. I imagine that a lot of people had alarm bells go off in their heads when Castiel was introduced (demons are kind of generic and pantheistic, but angels are something else again), but the writers have done a pretty great job of having the guys continue to distrust authority - even the very highest authority - while still creating a sense of awe about it.

Also, I think this is about the only genre show I can think of that doesn't catch crap when it puts off the bigger story for a done-in-one case of the week (heck, how many others can you think of where the fans say they'd like to see more?).

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

For me Supernatural is filling that Angel void from 3-4 year ago. The mythology that Sam and Dean are creating is just dramatic and fun viewing.

Every year it seems to me that Supernatural is hitting its stride and then the next season rolls around and it gets even better! This show is operating on such a high level of creative energy and dramatic acting that I'm actually beginning to wonder if they're not all receiving a bit of divine guidance and inspiration! Agree with you on the wait, wish we were gonna get another Christmas special to go into the holidays.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

As much as it bums me out to have wait until January to see the show again, I kinda like their move of playing about 1/3 of the season at a time. I know most seem to like a continuous stream of episodes (like Lost or 24) but I'd rather see 3 or 4 groups of episodes rather than wait 8 months between seasons to get the entire season uninterrupted.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Agreed. This is some of the best stuff I've seen on Supernatural. IMO, this is one of the best, if not the best season so far. I mean, angels and demons battling it out? How cool is that. And even better is that one brother is doing a demon and the other an angel, lol. Really, really good stuff.

And the revelation at the end about the 40 years that Dean spent in hell was really powerful. Great acting by the brothers.

One more thing that needs to be explained is what Ruby meant when she told Sam that he knew what he needed to do in order to exorcise a demon like Alistair and Sam said there was no way he'd do that again. I wonder what that is.

Like you guys said, this is going to be a long, long wait.

The wait is over tonight!

Thanks! I thought it was back next week! The DVR would have gotten it, but I still like to check.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

That was a good, creepy episode. Reminded me of that X-Files episode where Mulder and Scully go up against this inbred family. I think the name is "Home" if I'm not mistaken.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

This week's episode is entitled "Criss Angel Is A Douche Bag" which is very funny.

Supernatural wins the award for the best episode title.....

"Criss Angel is a Douchebag"

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Yeah, not the greatest episode, but definitely one of the best titles ever...

What's funny is that it's apparently such a widely held belief that neither the Warner Brothers or CW lawyers got scared and made them change the title.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

I thought the ending was the best part of the episode. The magician gave up a chance to be immortal and lost his only family (friends). And it showed how much doing the right thing sometimes...stinks.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

And the funny thing is that Criss Angel wasn't even in the episode, LOL.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

I just read that Supernatural's director/exectuive producer Kim Manners died over the weekend. He was also the director of a whopping 53 episodes (of 202 episodes) of The X-Files.

Thats horrible. May he rest in peace.

Indeed, sad news. RIP, Mr. Manners.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

Supernatural again casts the hottest woman. The doctor on tonights episode.

Also, liked how all of the strippers were named after Disney Princesses...Ariel, Aurora, Belle & Jasmine. And they were described as their animated counterpart.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

The hot doc was Maite Schwartz, who was a blonde on "Quarterlife", and I much prefer her as a brunette. Wowzers.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 4 thread

The CW has given Supernatural an early renewal for a fifth season.

They also issued renewals to Smallville, 90210, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and America's Next Top Model.

Reaper was not on the renewal list, and considering the second season doesn't even start until next week, I'd bet it'll be awhile before we hear any news on it.
