Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

Hooray! Just added all these to my Netflix. Can't wait!

Funny: Under "Randolph Scott" on Netflix is listed a film called WOMB RAIDER, a, um, soft core porn apparently directed by a "Randolph Scott" (in 2003, so I'm guessing it's not the same guy, eh?).

DVD Savant has posted his review of the Boetticher set:

Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

Thanks for the link to this review.

I've pre-ordered this release from DVD Pacific, who I've never used before. Can anybody who has used them tell me whether they typically ship so that customers receive the items on the actual release date, or possibly even a few days before the actual release date?

Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

They used to send stuff out in advance, but lately, IIRC, they seem to put things in the mail on a Friday to arrive by the following Tuesday, but sometimes that ends up being Wednesday. So I would guess you should have it by the day after the posted release date at the latest.

Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

Nuts!

Thanks for the reply, but nuts! -- I was hoping to pull off a 'trick' whereby I would get the set a few days early.

If the set arrives on Wednesday (11/5), I could just as easily go to a brick-and-mortar store on Tuesday (11/4), since I live in a densely urban area, where there are several brick-and-mortar stores, including a DVD Planet outlet.

Oh well, I'll have this set one way or the other. Thanks again for the reply.

Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

DVDPacific still seem to send things out early for me. I often get things on the release date, even though I am in Australia where it takes 7 - 10 days from shipment date to arrival.

Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

Snagged one today and will check some of the films out on the weekend. Don't recall seeing any of them before. There are five discs in a fold out digipack.

Here are two shots of the digipack:

Re: BOETTICHER/SCOTT SET

I expect to have the HTF review up on Saturday or Sunday. The set arrived the day before I left for the Hollywood meet and I've been down with a bad cold the past five days, so I'm running a bit behind.

From what I have seen so far, I expect that most fans will be very happy with this set.

These look horrible !

I do not care that much about these things myself but it is a shame that these WESTERNS with RANDOLPH SCOTT might as well never be noticed by many potential buyers because of the inept box design.
