re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

Looking forward to the new season. I've got to admit, I've developed a little bit of a crush on Kristin Chenoweth (Olive). Just don't tell my wife.

Well, that sucks! I can't watch the season two premiere thanks to the clowns! Yes, I have coulraphobia.

I don't know if you are joking or not, but one of my daughters was afraid of clowns, Santa Claus, or anyone with a mask until she was five or six. She would literally shake while I was holding her if a clown came near her. Needless to say we never went to the circus when she was young.

Lucia;

I am right there with you. I don't actually fear them, but they make me really uncomfortable and won't stay in the same room with one.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

No joking here. I have such a fear of clowns. I can't look at them, be in a room with them. I don't do the circus, fairs or anything that could possibly involve clowns.

When I started watching the trailer for Pushing Daisies, the second the clowns appeared, my heart lept from my chest and I left the room. I just have such a physical reaction to them. They freak me out.

true story: I work at Costco on the front end and a clown came in to purchase some shrimp. I had to stay in the office until he left. The very next day the same clown came back and again, I was in the office until he left. I hate clowns!

I do however, hope you all enjoy the season premiere, let me know how it turns out.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

I didn't have a problem with them when I was
a kid, but now, I do not like them....
I think it is a combination of 'It' and 'Poltergeist'
that really got to people in regards to the whole
'clown image'(anyone remember 'Killer Clowns From
Outer Space'?).
that scene in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban',
where the kids are supposed to imagine the thing that they
fear the most and that one girl sees/creates a giant cobra,
which, after she says 'ridiculous!', becames a giant creepy clown,
is very, very disturbing.
the snake is not at all scary.....the clown is terrifying!!
they should have had her see the clown as the thing to fear and then
turn it into a bunch of balloons or something!
by the way, I love 'Pushing Daisies'...!
to me, the brightest spot last season, along with 'Chuck'!
I hope that they can keep up the magic on these shows this season,
too!

Can you please take the fear-of-clowns discussion to the After Hours forum?

Does anyone know if Molly Shannon or Paul Reubens are going to be in the new season?

Molly Shannon is starring in a new sitcom on NBC this season so there's probably no chance of her appearing (unless her show bombs and gets the hook quickly).

Does anyone know when in October this season starts?

My most anticipated return of the new season!

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

Well, the premiere wasn't clowns. That's apparently next week. This week's was pleasant enough, but it didn't feel like a season opener. The case-of-the-week was pretty routine.

Kristin Chenoweth is a beautiful and talented singer and actress. No wonder Aaron Sorekin based his character Harriet Hayes on her in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

She is one the major reasons I watch this show.

Bzzzzzz!
Was a nice season opener.
I agree it didn't feel like a season opener.
But it was very pleasant.

I re watched that morgue scene many times
and I don't get who the other person was that was flipped over on her back(the one they didn't talk to)

I'm wondering what happened to Emerson's daughter
and when we will be seeing her added.
Ned's father is returning.
Wonder what for? Ulterior motive?

Kristin Chenoweth is very talented and beautiful.
I love that picture of her up above.
My favorite thing she's done in Pushing Daisies
is when she was signing the They Might Be Giants song,
"Birdhouse in Your Soul" song from Season 1

Similar to some other shows that had shortened premiere seasons, they did quite a big recap to bring viewers up to date with the basic premise and so forth.

I think the other person on her back was just part of the joke.

As someone with a decent bee sting phobia, while watching it wasn't that bad, when I was trying to sleep last night I kept on seeing bees for a while.

I am wondering how long Olive can keep her secrets. I hope she reveals them soon and rejoins the rest of the cast.

Great episode, though the recap was ridiculously long. Some pretty good lines last night:

Lily: Chuck's father, my lover, was Vivian's fiancee!
Olive: (stamping feet) Oh no, no, no...you did not just tell me another secret!!

Woolsey Nicholls: (about replacing Betty Bee) ...besides, she's getting old.
Chuck: She's 37, that's not old!
Woolsey: She's 38, which rounds up to 40, which rounds up to 50, which rounds up to...Old!

Olive: So, when is the porter coming for my things?
Mother Superior: I said, the "poor" will come for your things...here they come now...(to the poor) Hello, help yourselves!

Ratings were horrid. Fourth in its timeslot.

Awful (the ratings and that people would apparently watch the "Knight Rider" redo). It drew less than half the audience that watched the premiere last year.

It may have been a huge mistake not bringing the show back in the Spring after the strike ended.

The only small silver linings are that the entire ABC lineup performed miserably Wednesday. "Private Practice" and "Dirty Sexy Money" were also way down from last year (nearly 38% collectively). Also, ABC still finished the night in second place overall in the coveted 18-49 age group.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

For some reason, I never like secrets to last. I always wanted Clark to tell Chloe or somebody about his powers, and now I want Chuck to reunite with her family.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

I really enjoyed this new episode. I forgot how much I loved this show. Sucks that the ratings were not all they could have been.

This episode had some of the best lines (as quoted above). The morgue scene was a bit tough to see, all those bee stings really freaked me out.

Nervous about next weeks episode, I want to watch, but feel all icky about it...CLOWNS!

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

Absolutely LOVE this show. I think it is the most cleverly written, and acted show on TV right now. I also think it is the best looking show on, with the beautifully saturated colors, and spectacularly sharp HD image.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

I didn't know about this show until the Season 2 premier. I was glad for the recap and wondered if it were a pilot episode since it provided so much background information. You really have to pay attention while watching. I like the "James and the Giant Peach" stylization, which I'm sure you all discussed last season.

It's clever, original, captivating, and beautifully executed -- all elements, I fear, that will lead to an early death. I hope it lasts, though.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

I loved Kristin Chenoweth's homage to The Sound of Music in this episode. I hope ABC won't give up on this show. I think the ratings for all shows will be a little "out of whack" until after the World Series is over.

re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

I'm wondering how many more Hitchcock homages they'll be able to get in this season, or, maybe, they'll go for a totally different auteur.

I've been enchanted by every episode shown so far. Olive Snook is one my favorite characters in all TV-land. I hope she eventually finds her Fredo.

Re: Pushing Daisies - Season 2

Maybe I was just too tired to enjoy it, but last night's episode was kind of a bomb for me.
