NEVER MIND THE UFO's... DRAGONS ARE ON THE ATTACK
IN AN ALL-NEW FEATURE-LENGTH EPIC

FUTURAMA

BENDER’S GAME

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment Debuts
The Most Futuristic Medieval Adventure Ever On Hi-Def Blu-ray

Touching Down On DVD And Blu-ray Disc November 4

Century City, CA – Head back to the future when Futurama: Bender’s Game premieres on DVD and, for the first time, Blu-ray Disc November 4 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Park your hover-car and saddle up your unicorn for the most fantastical “Futurama” yet: Futurama: Bender’s Game. With fuel prices skyrocketing, the Planet Express crew sets off on a dangerous mission to infiltrate the world's only dark-matter mine, source of all spaceship fuel. But deep beneath the surface, they discover a far stranger place... a medieval land of dragons and sorcery and intoxicated knights who look suspiciously like Bender.

Joining the cast are guest stars George Takei, the iconic Captain Sulu from the original “Star Trek” series, and comic impressionist Rich Little.

The third installment of four all-new feature-length adventures, the Futurama: Bender’s Game DVD and Blu-ray are packed with special features. Hosted by David X. Cohen, “Dungeons & Dragons & Futurama” chronicles the influence of the classic role-playing fantasy game on the franchise. Other special features include outtakes, cast commentary, an anti-piracy message from Bender, an interactive Futurama Genetics Laboratory, a sneak peek at the next “Futurama” epic, and much more!

The Futurama: Bender’s Game DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S. / $37.98 Canada and on Blu-ray for $39.98 U.S. / $49.98 Canada. Prebook is October 8.

DVD Special Features:
Futurama: Bender’s Game will be presented in widescreen format with English Dolby Surround 5.1, along with French and Spanish subtitles. Bonus features include:
· Commentary by Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, Billy West, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Michael Rowe, Claudia Katz and Dwayne Carey-Hill.
· Storyboard Animatic: Bender’s Game, Part One
· Futurama Genetics Lab – Cross-breed Your Favorite Characters!
· Dungeons & Dragons & Futurama feaurette
· How To Draw “Futurama” In 83 Easy Steps Featurette
· 3D Models Featurette With Animator Discussion
· Deleted Scene: “Cup or Nozzle?”
· Blooperama 2: Outakes From Bender’s Game
· Bender’s Anti-Piracy Warning
· A Sneak Peek at the Next “Futurama” Epic, Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder

Blu-Ray Exclusive:
The Futurama: Bender’s Game BD release includes the wide screen version of the film and all of the above standard definition special features plus Picture-in-Picture capabilities. The disc will be authored in BD-J with AVC (MPEG 4) compression and presented on 50 GB dual-layer disc with English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio plus English, French, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese subtitles.

that part confuses me.
i'm guessing the br will list for
$39.98 US and the sd will be $29.98.

Probaly would have not confused me as much if it looked like this.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

so far the post-series Futurama's have been very average rentals but the novelty of HD might convince me to buy.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

Yea, the first 2 "movies" were not their best stuff, but since I have to have everything Futurama related, I will be buying this on blue.

I am looking forward to seeing how this colorful show looks in HD.

I hate that I am compulsive. If I buy any tv show, I have to have every season. gets pretty expensive.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

I hope that this blu-ray release keeps the same type of packaging that the new "Futurama" movie DVD releases have used so far.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

I don't like the new cardboard packaging. When I received the first 2 movies, both cases were smushed and dented during shipping. Amazon shipped them in a bag instead of a box. If they had been the normal case, it would have been fine, but the cardboard doesn't survive shipping.

I don't. I hope it is a standard Blu-ray case. The cardboard DVD cases are cheap, flimsy, and easily damaged.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

My guess is that they'll drop the paper box so consumers don't buy the Blu Ray and think they're getting the DVD or vice versa.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

The Futurama releases have made a point of being carbon neutral products, and if that continues, the Blu-Ray should arrive, like the DVD, without plastic packaging.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: Futurama: Bender's Game (DVD/Blu-ray)

Beast of a Billion Backs had a plot point that left a funny taste in my mouth (those who have seen it probably know what I mean). I'm not so sure I want to buy another Futurama movie now...

So did There Will Be Blood and that was in a regular Blu-Ray case.

EDIT: I hope I'm wrong though just because I like the change in the pace of packaging.

I could be wrong but I think it is the

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
sex angle. The idea that the beast is really engaging in a sex act with the person attached to one of his tentacles.

It was more than that, it was the Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
rape angle- it was engaging in coerced sex with every being in the Universe

A bit iffy, and a really strange angle for the folks at Futurama to take, something they've never done before.

Ah, interesting. I wonder if it even occurred to them that it would be looked at from that POV? Personally, I missed that context.
