BlacX Docking station + PS3 hard drive = ?

So I bought this BlacX SATA HDD USB Docking station to reformat my futzed PS3 60GB hard drive, and I'm having trouble putting it in. It just won't seem to click into it. Did I drop $60 on something totally useless for this purpose, or is there something I can do?

I have one of those HD docs. I upgraded my PS3 with my MacBook's old 160GB drive so the original 40GB HD has been sitting in the box. I was able to plug it in the BlacX and formatted without any problem.

Do you have another 2.5 SATA drive to try? Maybe your BlacX is defective?

Regrettably, I don't have another drive to try. But I'm having a tough time putting it into the thing.

I'm putting it with the label side the same face as the BlacX logo, with the metal part on top.

Yeah, that sounds correct to me. The label side on the HD points away from the back where the cables connect.

Can you look down into the BlacX and see if anything is in the way or appears damaged?

You might also consider returning it and trying one of these things:

I also notice that when I try to put it in, the top flap doesn't come up all the way (and this is a 2.5" drive).

I think I might have figured out the problem:

Should I take off the outer metal casing?

EDIT: That's the key. I did that, but it gives me the old "Disk Insertion...not readable by this computer" error. So what do I do to salvage my files? I bought a brand new 320 GB 2.5" drive to upgrade it.

I would personally take that thing back to the store get the $60 back and spend 20-30 on an all in one ide, sata, 2.5, 3.5 usb adapter, you save money and you will be able to use it with other drives later if need be
