True Lies - Page 2

I didn't expect my opinion would be agreeable to others. But it is, after all, only my opinion. Your points, Jason and David, are probably valid, but for me the sequence felt abusive and unnecessary. I do agree, however, that James Cameron's films generally are anything but misogynistic, and I recognize the fact that he populates his films with strong female characters, which I have always admired.

netflix streaming is playing true lies. it looked like it was enhanced for widescreen. since there is not an enhanced version on dvd? is there one finally made? or did they just zoomed in? it was not in HD.

The japanese and R2 PAL discs were 16/9. There's also a HDTV version reformated to 1.77, exposing less image on the sides, and more up and down.

it seem like it was a 2.35 movie like it was in the theatres.

Any update on this forgotten film of James Cameron's? I quite liked it and would like to see it again.

Many different versions of a film can exist for different media outlets around the world, there was also a special edition of the movie due to come out and then 9/11 happened and they dropped it, i'm sure they will re-visit this again and maybe do a new scan since there have been many improvements in film scanning since the last proposed release was cancelled, maybe they already have re-visited it and are working on it.

There's news this week of a True Lies tv show being considered. I'd link, but the article is on a site being renovated (and acting wonky). But if true, it should force the release of True Lies on BluRay, I'd imagine.

From Cinematical:

:Finally, Cameron addressed rumors of his involvement in an upcoming 'True Lies' television series. Specifically, he said he wishes the producers luck, but will have nothing to do with it. "I'm not really doing that," he explained. "That was initiated by others - friends of mine who wanted to do that. I said, 'Yes, go with God. Do 'True Lies.' But do I have to show up to do anything?' They said, 'Absolutely not.'":

It stinks of a generic show that will at least get solid premiere episode ratings because of its affiliation with a movie that's still played daily on basic cable.

All I want is a remastered Special Edition (standard) DVD of the movie. Period.

Sure, it might be a generic show, or it might be as good as (I hear) Nikita is. Remember that was a movie-turned-tv-show as well.

I recently saw True Lies on TNT or a simular station and in the title it claimed it was in hd.  If it was in HD it was one of the worst HD transfers I have ever seen and in some ways looked worse than my dvd transfer!  It looked like it was a SD transfer and not a HD transfer.  When this movie finally does end up on Bluray I hope they do a good job.

This film pops up on occasion on AMC-HD and/or A&E-HD in 1.78:1, but compressed to hell and incorrect aspect ratio = PASS.

I'll stick with my MKV of the D-Theater transfer, which at this point is at least 8 years old and STILL the best transfer available to the consumer market.

Which is truly a shame.  thumbsdown.gif furious.gif frown.gif

It's guaranteed to come out by 2014. ( that would be an anniversary year )

I'd rather they take their time and do it right than use an old outdated master and release something which doesn't live up to it's full potential.
