Sounds like George Lucas has developed his own shooting / conversion system to compete with all the other proprietary digital stereoscopic systems:

From article:

Katzenberg remarked in the interview that Lucas "isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate."

You mean other than the Prequels?

This is old news. Lucas mentioned this back at ShoWest at the unveiling of Real-D's digital 3-D system back in 2005.

Besides, it was ILM that did the 3-D conversions for Chicken Little and Nightmare Before Christmas. And the latter looked pretty amazing in 3-D!!

Re: Lucas To Turn Star Wars Films Into 3-D Features

Well that would certainly bring a new way to enjoy these films. I remember an article awhile back that quoted Lucas, Cameron & ?? about a way to bring 3-D to the masses. I think at the time box office $$ was down a bit-losing a battle with home dvd.

Not sure about the 3-D thing but I would certainly go. But it's also true that a high quality film, no matter what the medium, will bring in revenue for theaters.
