Regards,

As the DVDTalk reviewer in question, I resent your implication that I had anything to do with the review going live when it did--individual reviewers don't have that power at DVDTalk, maybe you do here. I personally have never been told of this policy by Warner, and evidently the Senior Editor at DVDTalk hadn't either (he's aware of the policy now, and a system is in place to make sure it doesn't happen again). I'd appreciate an apology.

I am sorry I incorrectly assumed you were reponsible for when your reviews are posted (addendum: I updated my post for the sake of accuracy).

Can't you just shift the Hue or whatever on the TV set to get the cloaks red? Should be good enough right?

Even if the shift were uniform from scene to scene, I would not want to readjust my projector for one title. (...says the hypocrite/dork who has been known to spend a half hour playing with an equalizer when trying to listen to a 45 minute CD )

Well I was going to order the dvd but Romans with peach coloured cloaks just isn't what I'm used to. Sure you reviewer guys have your colour balance settings working okay? What colour was the sky? Green? I'm kidding!!

I'll stick with the BBC recording I have on dvd. As I remember the cloaks were a lovely shade of red not peach or salmon.

Spinning it up again, I may be overstating it a bit. The "salmon" was based on the opening sequence where they are returning from three years of war. The cloaks are probably supposed to be a bit dusty. The helmet plumes are tilted a little towards orange. I would not say it was so severe that I would pass on the DVD (unless I was holding out for the BD). Dig Nero's crazy purple:

I recently obtained the Spanish edition of this Ultimate Collector's Edition and what a wonderful package it is! I don't understand why Warner Bros never released it in the U.S. or the U.K. but presumably they didn't think it would sell enough copies. Whenever I'm in countries such as Spain, France or Germany there do seem to be very many classic DVD titles in retail stores, so presumably people in those countries have more of an interest in classic films or else it's something to do with the economics of the chain of supply.
