Re: the fly opera

That's a good idea. I always thought of The Fly as an operatic movie, but I certainly never anticipated an actual opera. Cronenberg mentioned this to me way back in 2004 when I was in Toronto recording his commentary. And in fact the reason Howard Shore gave me for not being able to participate in Fear of the Flesh was that he was finishing up a Lord of the Rings tour and heading straight to work on The Fly opera afterward. So it's been the works a while now.

I can't wait to see it myself. And I assume plans must be in the works to have it recorded, but I'll certainly mention a DVD version to David.

Re: the fly opera

thank you.

I remeber visiting a movie theater where they advertise for a live opera at the theatre for people to watch. I don't know how it works.. but I do know that because of the high profile of cronenberg and shore doing the fly project.. it would be interesting to see if they could do one. fans of the fly films and of the director and composer will probably be very interest in the project, but not all are able to visit LA or paris for the show.
plus.. if you are able to do the dvd.. you have a part with the original cast like goldblum and others are able to see it and respond. that would be interesting to hear.
