Wow.

If there was ever a reference disc for hi-def, this would be a top choice. The new high-res transfer should be enough to get the BD, and the fact that the previous DVDs left much to be desired should be an even bigger motivation.

This should be the gold standard for 65mm titles on Blu-Ray, and hopefully an example for studios.

We'll see (pun intended)!
[HDM doesn't have a great track record w/70mm]
Superior transfer (no DNR actifacts for one thing) & super extras might get me.
However, I would only buy this used & trade in the anamorphic SD.
So, at fifteen bucks or less, yes! ;-)

I do not think that an 8k master will make much of a difference compared to a 4k for what we see on the Blu-Ray, but if the people involved with Baraka get things right it can easily be the best large format movie on HDM. There is no other competitor as of now that is really hard to beat so they just have to do their homework on this one and they will have a winner on their hands.

Would there be plans for a theatrical re-release? Or hedging bets for a release on a future format (Ultraviolet-Ray )? Seems a Blu-Ray disc wouldn't show much difference between a 4K and 8K scan... but other playback methods might.

I think Blu-Ray would show a difference for a 70mm film, and this is one. Definitely a transfer supervised by the persons who made it. This should look superb.
Could we have a BD of Koyaanisqatsi too, please?
