Anyone else watching this show?

I finally caught up with the first 6 episodes (will have to check if the 7th episode was on last night as it airs on Sunday nights on the USA network, and it's a decent show with a large pool of witsec situation to write about. I'm glad they are moving away from the mom/sister time filler subplots (though some of it does integrate itself into the A plot occasionally). I'll keep on watching the show as long as Mary McCormack is the lead, she's fun to watch.

I can't believe that no one had strated a thread about this show, yet. I have watch 3 or 4 episodes. It is a decent show, but not on my must watch or record list. I did like the episode with Dave Foley and Mary McCormack is "easy on the eyes".

Yeah it's a pretty Decent show, kind of a time waster and alot like Burn Notice on the same Network. But I'm keeping it on my DVR List. The guy who plays her partner reminds me of the video guy from Clerks, he has the same clipped dialog delivery.

This is another hit from USA. Along with Burn Notice, Psych and Monk I spend a lot a recording time on the USA network.

It get this she has it bad with her mom and sister but I could do without the mom/sister subplot and just the two agents do their thing. Once you know that she has to deal with her personal life and that causes her problems with her professional life you get it. You don't really have to be reminded about it with each episode.

I don't mind seeing Nicky Hiltz all the time though. Talk about easy on the eyes.

I watched the pilot and didn't like it at all. I like Mary McCormack, and she was the main reason I tuned in, but I don't like her in this role at all. The writers seemed like they were trying too hard to make her quirky or funny and it just came off as really cheesy. And the show itself is just run of the mill, so I bailed after the pilot.

Funny, just last night I was watching the premiere of 'Generation Kill' and thought the same exact thing about one of the soldiers (not sure what his name was).

What's interesting is that the guest stars have some impact as to the quality level of each episode, so each episode can be hit-or-miss (more hit than miss, for me). I wasn't too thrilled about the first episode, but I'm glad I stuck with the show.

The Pilot was the weakest of all the shows so far, I find also that some of the voice overs by Mccormack are'nt neccessary, and as mentioned the B plots with the Family often take away from the main story and are not needed, although it's always good to see Leslie Ann Warren get work.

And I forget the name but is the guy playing her boss Stan playing basically the same character he played in John From Cincinatti ?

This last episode was a great, great episode of television. Best of the summer so far, best since the House finale.

My wife and I are watching it. Before the show started I thought Mary was Maria Bello.

It's a nice summertime show. Glad they are getting away from the mom storyline - her character drags the show down. I think the sister's storyline has potential, though.

Also liked in last night's episode that Marshall is getting more screen time. It's fine with Mary being the focus, but if they can make it more of a partnership, then the show will only benefit. Hope they make the boss less of a goofball, though.

And I really like that Mary doesn't mind showing off some skin.

Overall, not a 'can't miss' show, but nice enough to watch until more preferred shows start gearing up. (SG-A, Eureka, Bones)

Paul Ben-Victor's characters all tend to have the same quirks, no matter which side of the law he's on. (Cf., NYPD Blue, John From Cincinnatti, even a guest star turn as a sleazy lawyer on CSI.)

I've been watching and I really like it.. Its definitely gone uphill since the pilot and Mary's partner, Marshall is amazing.. Agreed that the last episode was great.. Mainly cause Marshall completely stole the show. Him standing up to the dad was priceless and the door thing was awesome.. Anyone notice the sexual tension between Brandi and Rafael?

Unfortunately if you've seen the previews USA had been running for the show since January, you'd have already known that the sister sleeps with her boyfriend (and maybe her mom sleeps with him too?).

I like this show and I see it only getting better as time goes on. You have to give it to USA for having Psych, Monk, Burn Notice and now In Plain Site on during the summer. It really gives me some great programs to watch.

I'm into this show as well mostly because i've always been somewhat facinated with the witness protection program, I cannot begin to fathom what it would be like if I had to dump my life and everyone in it to start over someplace else with a new name.

I actually honestly don't think I could do it, being killed is almost better than losing my entire life with the people I love, life wouldn't be worth living without them IMO.

Anyhoo, enough deep stuff, it's a fun show with two charasmatic leads and yes, I commented to my best friend how much Marshall sounds like Randell from Clerks lol.

And I agree about Nichole Hiltz...yummy! I actually don't find Mary to be all that attractive, she's too butch for me I guess.

I kinda like the marshall who's name is Marshall joke. Reminds me when I was on the road somewhere in AL or FL back in 2000 or 2004, I saw a sign for the current sheriff's re-election. His last name was actually Sheriff! Sheriff Sheriff! I nearly drove off the road I was laughing so hard! Then it occurred to me, what if his son or daughter worked for him? They'd literally be Deputy Sheriff!

I think this episode went off the rails during Mary's mom's screed on Mary when she notices Mary at her audition. The family stuff does make you wonder how in the world did Mary become a US Marshall given her family's reluctance to adhering to laws in general.

I'm catching up pn my DVR I'm a few off, the last one I watched was the one where the Doctor and his family had to go into the program when his daughter witnessed the gangland drive by. I like this shows characters, actors and plots on the other hand the stories are a bit weak, and tend to be oversimple or sentimental. So I'm on the fence on whether I'll be continuing it, especially once the new season starts.

Very dissappointed with the most recent episode.. went completely off the rails for me. Knowing what we know now, I also have no idea how she could have gotten through the process and become a marshall.

The fact that her co-workers were idiots about the whole thing. It just felt way too contrived.

I didn't like this episode, either, it was permiated with an ugliness to where it became uncomfortable to watch.

I'm not enjoying the sister and her problems and Mary is becoming far too serious, I mean what happened to the Mary in the pilot who faked an orgasm over the phone to obtain information?

In short, this show needs to seriously lighten up a bit.

At this point the show is on life support for me and it'll only take another ep or two like this one for me to pull the plug.

I pulled the plug after I started watching the ep where Mary slept with the crooked cop in witness protection, the guy was a scumbag and it merely felt out of charcter for her to do it, but they had'nt had a love/sex scene since the pilot and they needed one. It had become to formuliac. Can you give me a spoiler on what happened?

Wonder how many ball players might test positive due to the lines being rolled on the field? It does make you wonder if they had that bit planned from the get-go by making Rafe a ballplayer. All the family stuff got a little too sordid and sloppy. "I am superior!" (not exactly the tact you take to win friends and influence people, Mary).

I agree about the family portion - it almost seemed to come out of nowhere.

But I really did like last scene. Rafe just continues to show that he's a very good guy - almost too good for Mary.

Off topic maybe, but I watched the episode again to make sure I was correct, and the cop was not "crooked" in the way that word traditionally implies. That cabal of officers wasn't taking bribes, blackmailing and ripping off dealers, or distributing narcotics themselves. Nor were they assassinating suspected perpetrators if I remember correctly. They were planting evidence on "criminals" who got released on technicalities or if they just couldn't gather all the evidence for the DA to take them to trial in the first place. That's why they thought they were in the right and why Mary's ex-cop witness said that although some of the guys would have taken the deal offered by the FBI/Justice Dept, some of them would just have spit in the agents' faces. These guys are referred to in large part as "rogue" or "renegade" cops, not crooked.

In Plain Sight is an enjoyable, interesting series, with a distinctive look - the Albuquerque locations are stunning - making a nice companion to fellow USA Network series Law & Order: Criminal Intent (been watching Criminal Intent: Season 8 alongside In Plain Sight: Season 2, as originally shown back in spring-summer of 2009).

 

The fifth (and sadly, final) season premieres a week today on the USA Network, with eight episodes.

Had no idea this had been around for five seasons. Was going to start watching last summer but basically spaced it out. Can't believe this is the fifth and last season.

Sometimes that fast forward button on the DVR causes you to completely miss commercials for new series that may turn out to be pretty good. Great for bypassing all the crap commercials they show, but you can also miss some meaningful things once in a while.

Looks like I'll have to find another way to catch this one.

Stan, how far did you get with In Plain Sight, or haven't you seen an episode of the show yet? (this question isn't meant in a confrontational, negative way). If it is the latter, then you're in for a refreshing treat (filming on location somewhere other than New York and Los Angeles makes a difference).

 

In the Law & Order: Criminal Intent seventh season epsiode "Contract", Mary McCormack makes a brief, guest appearance as her character from In Plain Sight.
