Thats the one point that annoys me. I can't see his superiors putting him in charge of investigating a unit knowing that one of the unit got him in trouble. I know he has pull. But, this just seems to be too much.

Yes, Olivia's sis is now a part of the love triangle. I like it. A fun wrench to throw into the works since we know they can't get together right away. I enjoyed the development of father/son with Walter and Pacey.

The one plot that already annoys me is the cliche FBI dude investigating them. Bleeeeeehhhh. Boring. Been there, done that.

So you like the cliche love triangle, but not the jerk boss with a grudge?

The problem with Anna Torv is her mannish features and her teeny tiny head (like Tony Shaloub in Men in Black, after Tommy Lee Jones shoots his head off).

I suspect that the Fringe unit, like it conceptual ancestor, the X-Files, has a lot of enemies within the FBI bureaucracy who dislike it for a host of reasons. Many of them would probably like to see it shut down. Letting the jerk boss do the dirty work for them is a classic passive-aggressive way of getting what they want without leaving any fingerprints. They simply don't get in the way of his vendetta, and he takes out Fringe. And if the whole effort blows up in his face, everybody else has plausible deniability. (And can try to take down Fringe by other means later.)

I think she's there to conveniently die and leave Olivia with Ella - instant single mom. When Olivia asked her if anything was wrong (other than the obvious like the recent death of her husband) the sister denied it, but in a way that makes me think she's lying. I think she's got a fatal illness and is waiting for the right moment to drop the bombshell on Liv. And those looks she's giving Peter are about sizing him up as a potential mate for Liv and step-father to Ella. BTW, I think the more interesting potential triangle is Liv-Peter-Astrid.)

I think her hairstyle (a very unflattering choice) makes her head look smaller than it actually is.

I think you guys are nuts. I, admittedly, thought she was a little plain-looking at first, but she's grown on me quite a bit, though a large chunk of it is liking the character.

Yes! We haven't seen the love triangle with the sister in a long time. Old cliches are like new ideas!

The jerk with a grudge (he's not the boss) was just done in House, it was done in CSI not long ago, and somewhere else I can't remember. I'm over it.

Plus, the sister is cute.

Same, though I liked her from the start. She isn't a glamour queen, no, but "regular looking" doesn't mean bad.

And I like her super straight shiny hair.

I might as well weigh in on this.

The problem I have with her isn't about her looks, she's attractive enough I suppose, but it's that she always seems to have a dark cloud over her head. I just can't seem to make a strong connection with her.

The last two eps have been really ICK-worthy, first that ugly slug/cold thingy and then liquid brains...blech! All I know is i'm off of pudding for awhile.

No mention of Walter's funniest line yet...

"I hope she doesn't notice the $2,000 for the baboon semenal fluid I ordered. Or what I ordered it for."

I just have no idea how trustworthy Scott and/or Massive Dynamic are, and that's fun.

I don't know if I mentioned it back in fall when his first episode aired, but good call by the show on having Boston/New York filmmaker Brad Anderson as one of their regular directors. Granted, a guy who has made such a great string of movies since Next Stop Wonderland shouldn't have to be doing TV, but if he's available, they might as well use him.

Fun episode.

I don't EVEN buy the NSA John Scott story. Somehow, when she visited Scott's body, MD altered her memory thing and manipulated the backstory. I just don't believe it and I'm paranoid of MD.

I'm just glad Pacey is also suspicious.

I liked this episode much more than the last two because it definitely seemed to tie in much better to the big picture. The episodes that do that catch my interest much more. I hate to say it, the show is decent enough, but if this got cancelled right now, I wouldn't be all that disappointed either.

I try to avoid reading celebrity news when I can, but I stumbled on the tidbit in the paper today that Anna married the guy who plays John Scott. So, she's off the market. I know you guys are all broken up about that.

TV is full of pretty, tiny women who fail to convince as agents or detectives. Anna Torv looks like she could actually handle a gun and beat somebody up. This business about her "tiny head" is a result of comparing her to the many actors on TV who are quite short and look like they have big heads. Her character has also shown an ability to relax and smile which also contrasts her with almost all of her contemporaries.
