12 years later, I still adore ID4. I haven't seen 10, 000 B.C. but I've seen just about all his other movies and while I certainly understand the levels of hatred thrown his way, I'll never take part in it. His movies are pure entertainment in an eye/ear candy kind of way, and I'll gladly have some more.

The guys films never fail to disappoint me, but he does know how to put together a nice trailer (teaser).

I was hoping it was another sequel to the Kubrick film 2001. I really liked 2010 : the Year We Make contact.

Very true. I have to admit, that this "2012"-teaser is very cool. Then again, it means very little in the world of Emmerich...

I have to say this without any exaggeration: "10,000 B.C." was one of the worse films in history to date. So I would say to mr. Emmerich: Please, PLEASE stick to the mindless disaster films. PLEASE.

Disappointment implies an expectation of something better. I have no such expectations, therefore they don't disappoint me. They're just godawful.

I am assuming this is based off the Mayan calender that says the world will end on Dec 21st 2012... haven't watched the trailer yet..... downloading it now.

Oooh it looks spectacular and noisy (just like nearly every other Roland Emmerich film). Looking forward to seeing this on the big big screen.

Emmerich's a modern day Cecil B.De Mille, the critics and film snoots hate him but the public, bless em, don't give a shit and turn up in their millions to see his latest epic. Who cares about the tepid dialogue? Show me the money! A massive alien invasion, cities destroyed, mankind on the verge of extinction, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

No one does destruction like Emmerich. I know the plot and dialogue will be weak but I'll still be in the theater to see the chaos on the big screen.

He sure loves trashing the White House, huh? How does one think of rolling an aircraft carrier over it, anyway?

Basically what the above posters have said. The movie could suck eggs. But, geez if he doesn't get you to want to see it just for the destruction. Its the same thing I felt when I saw the White House & NY getting blown up in ID4 and the frozen NY landscape for Day After Tomorrow.

The actual plot will most likely be beyond stupid, but I said the same thing when I first saw the "10,000 B.C." and "TDAT" trailer... DAMN, that man sure can get you excited about a movie you will probably never watch.

Plot? Really? It's about the end of the world and trying to survive it. You cannot expect a film like this to have one.

But, this will be a blind buy, it'll make for one hell of a Blu-ray presentation in the HT.

[stifles yawn] Oh probably because a few years ago he made a movie that went on to become the 2nd most popular film of all time. That might have something to do with it.

The visual effects look very impressive. The amount of detail and realism is just jaw-dropping. Visual effects have really come a long way since Independence Day back in '96.

However, with Harold Kloser once again co-writing (10,000 BC anyone?), my expectations are very low. Then again, with John Cusack and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the cast, it can't be too bad.
