I have looked into using a HTPC for my planned Home Theater. But not 100% sure that is the route to go for what I am trying to accomplish. I am looking to organize my dvd collection onto my hard drive if this is even legal, and be able to have that organized by genre similar to escient. Also have the ablilty to use the internet and games. Any suggestions as to if this is the correct path and any other HTPC suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: HTPC
It's not technically "legal" per-se but that's a crock. If you feel like having your dvd's organized why the heck not.How to: play ripped DVDs on Vista Media Center
I use My Movies to organize all my movies, and I love it. It downloads all the cover art for each movie I add along with all the descriptions and actors and stuff. I use DVD Decrypter to rip the dvd's to my hard drive. You can also use DVD Shrink. All of this is free stuff that works well. I'm doing this all on a HP machine I bought for $450 on buy.com. I bought a tv tuner so I have all my shows, DVD's, pictures, music in Media Center. If you want to rip blu-ray it's a little more involved and expensive....
