HYSTERIA's rights would be with Warners, as inheritors of the pre-'86 MGM library. Columbia never had any rights to HYSTERIA AFAIK.

In a Press Release posted at the site linked-to below, it has been revealed Jeanine Basinger has recorded a 'companion' (I think we usually use the term 'commentary') track for 'The Tall T'.

Jeanine Basinger in Western Mode [Randolph Scott / Budd Boetticher westerns finally on DVD?]

Terrific; this is already shaping up to be some set.

Re: Sony's Mike Schlesinger talks; Boetticher/Scott, Toho, Hammer, Peter Lorre, more...

Hi guys,

Does anyone have Mike Schlesinger's email address? I would like to ask him about a DVD title. Does he answer all his e-mail?

Re: Sony's Mike Schlesinger talks; Boetticher/Scott, Toho, Hammer, Peter Lorre, more...

His email address, and he is the one that posted it, is in the linked article in the first post of this thread.

From personal experience, he does answer his email.

Do we have any artwork for the Boetticher set yet?

I was wondering the same thing. This set is barely one month away and to not have artwork is awfully strange.

Re: Sony's Mike Schlesinger talks; Boetticher/Scott, Toho, Hammer, Peter Lorre, more...

Has anybody heard anything new about the other sets that Sony was working on last year including the Noir, and Capra sets? Are these still coming, or is everything on infinite hold due to the economy?

Re: Sony's Mike Schlesinger talks; Boetticher/Scott, Toho, Hammer, Peter Lorre, more...

I have not heard more about the noirs, Capras and classic comedies since last year, but I read somewhere earlier this year that a Jack Lemmon set was upcoming.

If the other sets have indeed been affected by the economy, I'm at least glad the Boetticher set made it out. The Boetticher films were my 'holy grail'.

Of course, I would also love to see a Lemmon set released. I would especially like to see 'Pffft!' and 'Operation Madball' included in the set.

I wanna hear more about the Lorre set and Sony noirs!

Funny, I'm holding out for the Toho set. It should just about complete my Toho sci-fi collection.

As well as the long overdue GOOD NEIGHBOR SAM.

Toho Sci-fi, Film Noir and Lorre are what I'm interested in.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if these get shelved in this craptastic economy.

I'm sure Mike said that Sony are releasing "The Damned" (These Are The Damned) this year as part of Joseph Losey's centenary.

IT would be great if Losey's M (very underrated) and THE GO-BETWEEN were released with THESE ARE THE DAMNED also.

I emailed Mike about 'The Go-Between' several months ago. He replied very promptly saying that he would love to release it this year but he wasn't sure whether Sony held the necessary rights.

I assume he would have followed up on this, so I hope they have obtained whatever rights they needed so that we can look forward to a DVD release (and even a BD?) this year.

I e-mailed Mike about Losey’s M last summer, and he told me that Sony no longer has the rights to it.

Well, I said I want to, but it's not official yet.

Lemmon, Toho and Film Noir will definitely be out this year.

Hi Mike, do you have any more information on the status of 'The Go-Between'?

That's great to hear Mike. Chalk up both a Toho set and Noir set as sold.

Thanks ike, that is great news on the Toho, Lemmon & Film Noir sets.

The Damned is my most wanted Columbia title so I am hoping that comes out this year as well.

Are the Capra and screwball comedies sets still on the radar?

Thank you!!!!

The Go-Between is available as an import version at Amazon (around $25), but if you buy it at Amazon/UK it's only £6 (roughly $9). They will even subtract the VAT once the system finds out you're shipping to an US address.

So if you happen to own a region-less player (and TV or projector), it looks like an attractive option.

Not in full-frame though; alledgedly, Optimum has redone the film since that '07 release for their R2 Losey boxset, but I can't confirm that it's anamorphic OAR - anyone?

Great to hear the Toho set is still on track; it's been pretty quiet about that lately so I was starting to get nervous.
