New Hitachi Plasma TV problems with Air Conditioner

Hello

I have a new 52" Plasma TV that works great, But when I use the remote control to change channels from lower channels to upper channels it turns my Haier Air conditioner on and off. It only does this changing channels going up.. But it does not when changing from high channels to low channels.

I turned the TV off and used just the remote and it did the same thing.. So its just in the remote.. The only thing I can think of is the remote to the TV is using the same RF frequency as the Air Conditioner remote.

Is there a fix for this? Let me know I appreciate it..

More than likely it is the same IR codes. There are only so many codes available and you are the unlucky person to find two completely different pieces of equipment that share some codes.

Cover the IR sensor on the AC and manually change the settings.

I remember seeing a programmable universal remote that came with a book of what frequencies each brand would be using. Most brands had several frequencies... I don't imagine you can change the frequency easily on your stock tv or air conditioner remote but you might be able to get a universal remote and use an alternate frequency that the tv and air conditioner don't share. But covering the air conditioner's I/R receiver works too. Very McGuyver, I like it.
