I guess this series has now officially become the NEW Friday the 13th. Can't wait for Saw VIII: Jigsaw Takes Manhattan, Jigsaw Goes to Hell, Jigsaw X and Jigsaw Vs. Jason.

I hated part 4 but enjoyed the others. I might be swayed back if it's decent enough.

Yea but you know if #6 makes a ton of cash, they'll eventually make a #7.. and then maybe a #8... and so on.. then of course the remake in 10 years.

I think alot of people are going to have the same negative reaction that you're having to a Part 5 in a series and this one will make substantially less money than the other entries in the series (but still be very profitable) and hopefully Lion's Gate will know that it's time to bring the series to an end with Saw VI rather than drive it into the ground.

I honestly wonder how much money any of them would have made if theater owners actually kept kids out that don't have a parent with them.

For sure. Hopefully if they end it at #6, they do end it right and give it a finale that ties everything together and not open ended just in case.

Ever since The Matrix got blamed for murdering people, every theater in my area actually enforces ratings. I'm nearly 30 and I got carded buying a ticket for Saw IV and my buddy saw Saw III and everyone had to show their tickets AND driver's licenses to the usher at the door so kids couldn't sneak in. For the record, I live in a Philadelphia suburb and not the bible belt.

Ironically, the theater that carded me for Saw IV is the same theater where me and my friend bought tickets to Halloween 5 with no problem when we were 9 or 10.

I really enjoed Saw III and felt it was the perfect finale to what is a nice trilogy of films. I rented 4 and thought it was hopelessly unnecessary. A desperate attempt to extend the story past its own natural point of conclusion. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I really liked IV, and it was the only Saw film that left me totally anxious for the next. I am hoping though that they stop at VI and end everything just right. A series like this wouldn't be fun if the plot just keeps going on seemingly endlessly.

I thought I had read that they were taking a year break inbetween the last one and then making 5 and 6. I'm not complaining as I find the series fun and interesting. Would this make it the longest running consecutive horror franchise, taking over for Friday the 13th?

Pretty cool teaser. Short and sweet, and with just a tad of the theme music at the end. That music still sends a shiver down my spine whenever I hear even a bit of it.

I've still only seen the first one. I have the others in my Netflix Queue, but for some reason they don't have Saw II in Blu-ray, which I'm kind of waiting for before watching it. They have 1 and 3 and 4 in BR, just not 2...

Probably a lot more, since those kids sneaking in likely bought tickets for some other PG or PG-13 film, so their tickets didn't actually get credited to "Saw" grosses.

Perhaps God just put a curse on me for going into these movies before I was 17 but I always see young, young kids in these films. It seems every horror movie I've watched in the theater over the past ten years has had more kids (under 17) than anyone else.

I'd assume the movie. I just hope it's just a cool "Oh, shit!"-twist rather than having to figure out the ending like Saw IV (although the ending does make sense chronologically once you walk through it).

Does anyone know the story behind this series? Was it intended to be a multi-film franchise, or is the studio just seeing a way to make a fast buck? And they have such a tight turnaround with each film being released at Halloween.

I thought the first film was great, the second standard sequel fare and, really, can't understand why a 3rd film was greenlit. And then a 4th. And then a 5th...

These films are made incredibly cheaply. They rake in huge profits at the box office alone, then there's the DVD sales.

"Saw" is probably one of the most profitable franchises in film history. Until they actually start losing money, I'd expect the series to continue. After all, the studio is in it for the cash, nothing else.

Do you really think that will stop someone from making a 7th film lol?

It's become a tradition for my friend and I to go see the newest Saw film around Halloween so i'm looking foreward to seeing what sadistic mouse-traps they come up with this time, which is where the fun of these films comes from.

I enjoy the SAW series and have seen all of them in theater, so I plan on seeing this one. I'm not sure what they'll do with this one, but I hope they resolve the cliffhanger that ended SAW III.

I was amazed by the first SAW, I liked it very much. Thought it was a modern classic. Then I thought 2 and 3 were pretty enjoyable as well... but Part 4 was AWFUL, I thought. Just totally incomprehensible. I vowed I was done with the series after Part 3, but I may be able to be swayed if 5 is any good.
