Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
Obviously someone can correct me if I wrong but I believe there won't be THAT much SWAG given away. The reason behind this is that many studios aren't as willing to give away titles as Blu-ray has won the format war. Different story last year.Ron did mention in an email that there will be a BD50 given away by Panasonic and HTF though.
Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
A BD50 from Panasonic is Cool.I agree that there probably won't be as much as a push in the Blu Ray department considering HD - DVD went exctinct like Dinosaurs.I wonder if ther are independent reatialers or other companyies that have demo DVD 's on the exhibit floor?

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
Gerald,I wouldn't get my hopes up high for any premium schwag.
The studios were not willing to give us anything this year.
Things are financially tight for everyone and with no format
war in existence, nobody is trying to woo consumers as they
were last year.
You came on board a little late, but in my first mailing to our
group I advised everyone that there would not be any major
schwag this year.
While getting "schwag" is always a nice perk, I would hope that
the event itself and the company of fellow enthusiasts would be
a satisfying experience without having a bag of free product to
go with it.
As has been mentioned, Panasonic is giving us a new BD50 player
(available in July) to give away at this meet. One of you will be
a proud owner of it.

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
Thursday, the last day of the show is when you'll have a chance to visit with the exhibitors. That's the day you should be able to pick up screeners, etc. I'd recommend you look through the list of exhibitors and plan ahead. There'll be limited time and you probably don't need to visit the duplicators, etc.If you're in the industry and want to stay on the mailing lists, be sure to bring your business cards.
Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
Hello All,Thanks for the detailed responses.About being in the business do you mean in Film & Video or also running a website with DVD reviews etc.?I would make some business cards and hope to get some screeners ,thanks for the tips my friend.Take care.

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
If you write/run a website on DVDs, you should definitely bring your business cards. Many screeners are free for the asking in the exhibitors' suites. Just be polite and considerate.I write a monthly column on films and history (http://www.worldwar1.com/tripwire/smtw.htm). I'll be looking for history & military features and documentaries to review.
Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
I unfortunatley don't have a website yet .I am in the planning stages.Do you think if I made a businees card with just my contact address & e-mail they would be accomodating?

I can tell you EXACTLY what free schwag we will be getting.Meeting new friends
meeting old friends from the past HTF meets

and if you signed up for it, free dinner at TGIF's with the chance to talk with everyone.

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
Wow I can't say how disappointed I am here. Ron and crew have been over the top about saying how much last year's trip was going to be a double edged sword, on one hand it was wonderful to get the amazing and unexpected gifts last year and on the other how it would be hard to manage people's expectations for Schwag this year. I thought he was nuts, that our members would go in expecting nothing and be grateful for any freebies that we'd be lucky enough to score. Mr. Steffans nails it totally, this trip should be about meeting fellow HTF'ers, geeking out getting to talk about the hobby we love, and having the chance to rub elbows with industry insiders and get them to see their world from our consumer viewpoint. Any freebies would be gravy on the top, not us going to this event like it would be a buffet for us to pick and choose what to take from, or worse, trying to jimmy up fake business cards for websites that dont exist yet in an attempt to score more loot.../scratches head sadly

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
I can't believe how upset people are over this.I just asked what we might have achance of getting as an extra.I've been to several other conventions and have had to sen a whole Priority Mail Box back home.If I knew I wouldn't be able to pick up some extras or screeners to offset the cost of an expensive trip I would have just gone to Vegas in May when it was cooler.I feel no shame in hoping for some free goodies.Half of the show schedule I'm not even going to because the discussions don't interest me.I am going to Vegas to enjoy myself , not sit in a conference room all day.Would anyone like to go to a nice restaurant?
I'm looking forward to Nero's or N9NE Steakhouse.
Of course meeting fellow enthusiasts is great and can't wait to meet you all.

Gerald,
Perhaps you shouldn't take part in this event at all.
If it was your purpose to come out, enjoy yourself in Vegas, not
have to sit in a conference room but have the benefit of taking
home a priority box of schwag -- then this function is not for you.
I don't see how the schedule will help you any.
Enjoy Vegas!

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
I have to say that the best part of last years event was meeting a bunch of GREAT people from this forum...the gifts were a plus, but that was never the main reason to attend this event last year. I personally feel that if I come home with nothing more then a great time with fellow Home Theater Junkies and nothing else.....it still will be completely worth itA free Blu-ray player can break then it's gone.....the experience you have there with fellow HTF members will last a lifetime.
Looking forward to seeing all of you again this year.

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
To Ron,I am very dissapointed in the manner I'm being treated by everyone hear.I just asked a very polite and simple question .As I stated in my replies , of course I look forward to going to the show and meeting everyone and hopefully make some new friends also.I am participating in the scheduled metings , I just voiced my opinion but didn't word it right I suppose.I meant in the sense that some of these seminars are clearly just for aretailer telling you how you can grow your business or hold the hands of the common Joe 6 pack at Wal - Mart
and show them how to get in on this High Definition Hobby we all love so dearly.
I do not expect ANYTHING ! I just was curious what people's opinions were what might be available in demo's or screeners that is all.To be told that I shouldn't go at all is like being told I can't be in your group just because I have an opinion of my own.I've already spent the money on my Hotel & Airfare for the week and I hope you don't take my name off the list as I planned vy Summer trip around this EMA show.I WILL BE GOING TO THIS SHOW AND THE SPECIAL EVENTS I SIGNED ON FOR.
Thank you very much,take care.
Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
STAN WINSTON R.I.P.How sad that we've lost another great artist in the world of film.My favorite design of his is the Velociaraptor from Jurssic Park & The Terminator.
A true legend and I hope it get's some mainstream coverage, although probably even Entertainment Weekly will have an inch write up but a 5 page spread on the Jonas Brothers or some other low brain entertainement.I send my thanks to Stan for all the wonderful memories he gave me & I'm sure millions of other's.
Take care Stan & I send my prayers to his family.

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
People should NEVER go to ANY event expecting to receive some type of gift. We should be honored that people like Ron are working as hard as they are to even put the events on. And the fact that it's going to be Vegas will be a memory enough for me (and if anyone wants a memory be sure to hang with me and Justin).

Re: WHAT KIND OF SWAG WILL WE PULL?
Gerald,I did not remove you from the event. In fact, despite what I said
to you in public here, I sent you a link to the schedule via email.
I have to be honest with you, the way you worded your posts
above raised quite a few eyebrows. Anyone can read those posts
and say that your intent was to come out, enjoy sightseeing in
Vegas, not have to sit in a show conference room and take home
as much schwag as you could.
Listen, I'm willing to start fresh with this if you are. Come on
out and hang with the group. No hard feelings.
As you mentioned, you were late to the addition of the group and
I did not see your name on the TGI Fridays list. What time is your
flight coming in on Monday? You can contact me privately on this
if you wish.
