Some early details...

Universal to Go 'Green-Ray' with 'Incredible Hulk' | High-Def Digest

It seems, that "70 minutes of additional footage" was just an rumor at this point.. Perhaps saved for the "Dir cut"-release later on, or something...?

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

Saving it for a double-dip seems sadly likely.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

That blows. If this release doesn't have all the additional footage I'll just rent it and wait for the inevitable extended cut.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

I didn't think there'd ever be an extended cut on there. 70mins of footage? Please, internet hyperbole of the highest order. Nowhere in the press release did the Director mention 70mins being added back into the film. Nowhere.

Maybe not in a press release, but I saw a TV interview with him where he clearly stated there was a ton of cut footage he intended to put back into the film for a DVD/Blu-Ray release.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

Yeah, they won't put 70 minutes back in there but you can bet that if the director was talking about that much footage being dropped before the movie was even in theaters that there will eventually be an extended cut with some of that 70 minutes edited back in.

I guess we know for sure when the "Dir Cut" arrives. "70 min" added to the film seems unlikely, but you never know.. Or should we start 10 page debate on this one also?

Martin: Read the first post in this thread. "70 min"-thing didn´t refer to any "press releases". We just speculate here based on the interview. It always helps to read the whole thread...

I find that highly unlikely, considering his interview states that it's footage he cut for a reason, some of it really bad and that he never states he's putting it back in.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

Whether it's 70 minutes or 30 minutes, there's no doubt we will get an extended cut of the movie. Between Norton's comments, the director's comments, the stories that ran about how much was taken out -- I don't think that's "rampant speculation," it seems to be common sense.

But obviously that's being reserved for a double dip

I'm not sure which interview you're referring to, but I'm definitely not imagining the TV interview I saw with him right around the time of Hulk's release in theaters. It was on G4's Attack of the Show and he CLEARLY stated there was a ton of cut footage he planned to include on the DVD/Blu-Ray.

Not to mention that most comic book movies get a re-release or an extended cut since the studios know they have a pre-existing fanbase to continually sell their movies too.

He also said, in that interview, the Captain America was in the film, I believe his words were "You will see him".

I take everything he says with a grain of salt.

To speculate on the 70 minutes of deleted scenes (I don't think you will ever see an extended cut, that would make it seem like the director didn't like his final cut) there seems to be a 3 disc set for the SD version.
Why would you need 3 discs unless you had a boat load of content.

"Incredible Hulk - Dir cut" WILL arrive at some point. It´s a done deal, I´m sure. Just a question of "when"..

I thought I heard that Edward Norton came in to edit his version of the film, and that one got released?
I definitely heard that the director had to edit down his version, because the studio wanted the film to be around 110 minutes? (it became 114, I think). So if 70 minutes are correct, I don't know, but there is a longer director's cut out there.
I hope we do get it, because I can't wait to see Captain America frozen in the ice. I was a bit disappointed I didn't see that in the theatrical version. The film itself was great, though.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

The aforementioned G4 interview with Louis Leterrier is available here. He claims that all of the deleted scenes will be on the DVD, but that they will not be incorporated into the film itself. "For me, there is only one cut of the movie," he says.

He also addresses the Norton/editing issue.

Wow, there aren't many directors who actually go out and say that the theatrical cut is their final cut. So, we won't see an extended one (which is fine, if the director insists the film doesn't need one) but the Cap scene should be in the bonus material. Any way, it's fine by me.

Actually, it's the interview I'm referring to,which was done during a press-junket to promote the film. Sorry I didn't cross the Ts and dot the lower-case Js. There's always someone anal-retentive enough to point out others shortcomings, isn't there?

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

When they do an extended cut he'll just say "I was happy with the theatrical cut but this version adds more depth to the characters and a bigger look at the world of the Hulk." It's not like that's an uncommon statement.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

Once again here are the deleted scenes that will be on the Blu-ray/DVD.

They are in the British 'speeded up' format and will total about 50 minutes after adjusting the time for the US speed.
The 'Alternate opening' will be one bonus section and the rest of the deleted in another.

Re: "Incredible Hulk" Blu-ray: Planned with 70 Minutes of Cut Footage?

Here are the individual breakdowns of the deleted scenes..........
You can see they include all the chatacter stuff Norton wanted in.......

The director specifically said some of the deleted stuff was great and some was lousy. So any future longer cut will be a lot less than 50-70 minutes longer--unless he puts back in even the 'lousy' stuff .

It's probably just a rental for me until the inevitable dir's cut comes out. Who knows? Maybe we'll eventually get 3 different cuts (to include Norton's).

DVD Times - The Incredible Hulk (US BD) in October

Quote:
Universal Studios Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of The Incredible Hulk on 21st October 2008 priced at $39.98 SRP. Edward Norton stars as Bruce Banner in director Louis Leterrier’s take on the Hulk. The film also stars Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt.

A two-disc set, the movie and extras are contained on a dual-layer BD50 while the second disc – a single-layer DVD – holds a digital copy of the film.

Universal have so far not used region coding on their Blu-ray Disc titles and we expect this trend to continue, though officially no region coding information has been supplied.

Features on the Blu-ray include:
  • 1080P Widescreen
  • English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
  • French and Spanish 5.1 DTS Surround
  • English DD2.0 Stereo
  • English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles
  • U Control - Thunderbolt Files

This should be at least interesting: Commentary with Director Louis Leterrier and Tim Roth. Then again, I doubt that Leterrier reveals that much at this point..

I thought that increased speed wasn't a problem in Bluray?

I guess he´s talking about those running times (in PAL-format in BBFC-site)? Or something? I guess PAL for Camper is "British 'speeded up' format". It has many names..

I believe most of the (SD based) extras are in "NTSC", even in the European Blu-ray-releases (with some exceptions, of course).
