How to connect cable box, ceiling mount projector and speakers?

I have a Panasonic AE-2000U projector mounted to ceiling. I want it to take only one HDMI video feed, and have the speakers (on wall) to take the audio feeds from either a cable box or a receiver. I also want to play CD/DVD/VCD some time. Is it a must to have such a receiver? Can I just leverage the cable box?

I was told the speakers (on wall) are A/B type (what is it?) What kind of receiver is able to handle the A/B type?

Many thanks.

Re: How to connect cable box, ceiling mount projector and speakers?

Can you tell us anything about the speakers? How many are there, is there a brand or model name, do they have an electrical power plug, anything else that might help us?

It is likely that what you will need to do is purchase a HT or Stereo receiver, and then the receiver will do the switching from one source to another. I doubt that the cable box will do more than just select cable channels. We can give better answers when we have more info!
