Since there are about zillion books of The King, can you recommend the ones that I must have?

I´m looking for a honest biography of a man, his music and his films.

Thanks!

You can't go wrong with Last Train to Memphis-The Rise of Elvis Presley and Careless Love-The Unmaking of Elvis Presley both by Peter Guralnick for a biography of the man. Not sure of the best books on the music and movies.

Was going to be my suggestion. by the end of the first book, you'll feel like you know the man personally, by the second, you'll be angry with him. Great stuff, might be my favorite biography. It doesn't really judge him either, but portrays him honestly.

Re: Best book of Elvis?

My best friend is close friends with Peter Guralnick. During the preparation of this book, Peter asked him for research on the occasion when the Beatles met with Elvis. My friend did what he could at the time. For his work, he received a copy of the book in a new casebound edition.

I've met Peter Guralnick once, and it was a pleasant experience.

This book is an excellent recommendation IMO.
