Apple Premieres Movies on the iTunes Store in the UK

With iTunes Movie Rentals, once a movie is rented, it starts downloading from the iTunes Store directly to iTunes or Apple TV, and users with a fast Internet connection can start viewing the movie in seconds. Customers have up to 30 days to start watching it, and once a movie has been started customers have 48 hours to finish it—or watch it multiple times.

Two day rentals in the UK, compared to half that in the US. It seems "Hollywood" is basically telling the US, "Bite me!"

Not the first time our cousins across the pond have rubbed our noses in it.

Nonetheless I find 24 hours to watch a movie once I have begun watching it more than enough time. As for multiple viewings, if the movie is that good, I’ll buy a hard copy.

Perhaps the Brits need two days worth of watching in order to figure out the plot(s).

Others have noted the problems with a 24 hour rental. I wonder why the Brits got the 2-day rental term? Are they more honest, less piratey than us Americans?

That may be so, but that could easily change. The device itself, however, is A LOT more expensive in Europe than it is here.
