Rambo: First Blook Part 2
Rambo III

There is also an SD-DVD set of the four Rambo films that was just released.

Thanks! But does First Blood (Rambo 1) comes in Rambo Collection (Rambo films 1 thru 3) package?

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Yes, "Rambo 1" *is* First Blood. The collection includes the first three films on BD and all four films on SD-DVD.

The films are (in release order):

First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Rambo

Although they seem to have added a subtitle to the last one. Strangest series of film titles yet. . .

Thanks Aaron, my DD pre order for 1 LGE024054 BLR : RAMBO 1-3 BOXSET $ 27.88 , has been shipped! So I can keep First Blood and sell or trade other two. Kool.

All the 6/3 Paramount/Legend releases, for example, are cheaper at Planet.

But beware that they do charge sales tax for some states, like CA. With the tax the price ends up being more than DD.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

And there's talk that WalMart starts a BluRay sale on June 7. Not sure where I read that (somewhere here, no doubt).

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

When comparing prices between DD and DVDPlanet, you should also be aware that DVDPlanet no longer offers free shipping. The last time I ordered from DVDPlanet their Super Saver Shipping cost $1.50
post #67 of 151

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Planet offers free shipping on orders over $35. That's after any discounts have been applied. They also give you frequent buyers points. I canlt remember exactly how these work, but I think you get something like $5 in points credits for every $100 you spend.

Ah, that explains it. They used to only require a minimum $25. My last order was over $25 but less than $35, so I assumed they had done away with free shipping.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

No problem, Arsh. For $28 I might bite the bullet and upgrade my Rambos as well.

I thought it was kinda strange when my DVD Planet cart said "Free Shipping: $1.50," but I added another item and it went away, so I didn't think too much of it.

The Walmart sale is about a dozen titles of varying interest for $15 each. I forget which ones, but if you google "Walmart Blu-Ray Sale" you'll find the list.

Does the HTF benefit in any way based on how many times the code is used?

The number of times it is used doesn't matter except to let DD know that our members are shopping from them because of all of you that order using the code.

Encase anyone that didn't know already this code is for DD only and not for DVD Planet or any other DVD vendor.

I would certainly hope that might convince DeepDiscount to spring some advertising dollars your way...if they knew a lot of HTFers were shopping with them.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Rats, placed a $510 order before I saw that there was an HTF code (HTF01 for those who got here late). Well, I'll keep it in mind since I invariably place another order of stuff I forgot in the first one.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

So are we sure that the sale runs till the 22nd? I seem to recall that it only ran for a week in the past.

And anyone know how long the concurant sale at DVD planet is going on for?

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

The end dates for both should be the same- and DDs officially ends on the 22.
I was incorrect about the point system. You need 200 points (spend $200) to get $5 in credit .

The sale runs until the 22nd.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

Digital Video Essentials HD Basics in BluRay is only $16 during this sale!!!

IMO, this should be a standard in everybody's collection and no display should be viewed without using this test disc first.

I forget. If I want to place an order...but some titles are listed as "In Stock" and others are listed as "Out of Stock"...am I better off placing two different orders to get the in-stock items without waiting for the others?

No, I'm pretty sure they ship them as they become available. without extra charge like amazon.

I could be wrong though...

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

I’ll start by saying that I currently do NOT have a DB player. But now that a format has been chosen by the market place. I think it’s time to consider an upgrade.
That being said, I’ll start with purchasing the content, then get a player later this summer. Which of course will drive an upgrade to my projector, but that’s for another thread.
So which BD's really show off the medium?

--or should this be placed somewhere else--

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

You should probably search (and/or ask in) the High Def Software section.

There are also a few different review sites you might wish to check, including
High-Def Digest | Blu-ray & HD DVD News and Reviews in High Definition.

In general, I guess you'll get the best quality jump from DVD for films made in the last several years though various older films, including some classics, also receive some significant quality jump. For the most part, your best bet is probably to just look up your favorite films for reviews and see. There's really no hard and fast rule for this. For instance, even a recent film like Assassination of Jesse James doesn't guarantee a big jump in quality while an old classic like Errol Flynn's Robin Hood (only on HD-DVD so far) would.

And then, there is the controversial issue of DNR/EE being applied to varying degrees on certain titles that may sway you one way or another regarding those titles, eg. Patton, Monty Python's Life of Brian.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

This is kind of an odd DD Supersale thread. No one seems to be posting their order lists. Here's mine:

Company (Blu-ray) $20.24 > $16.19
The Price is Right $22.14 > $17.71
DVE HD Basics (Blu-ray) $19.88 > $15.84

Total: $62.26 > $49.81

Don't forget to use the HTF's own code: HTF01

And thanks to Gregg Loewen for pointing out the DVE HB Basics disc!

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

They have let me use the HTF01 code multiple times.

I just ordered season three of Saturday Night Live, $35.91 with the 20% off.

Re: DeepDiscount 20% off sale Spring 2008

I ordered Superman Returns (BluRay) because even though I'm sure Singer will eventually deliver the extended version with the Krypton prologue, I am confident -- or at least hopeful -- that the extras will be different (so it is worth owning both versions).

I usually get a lot more, but I've taken to just renting regular DVDs, and there aren't many BDs to choose from yet (and the JR.sale that ended last week took care of most of those I wanted).
