EUREKA unscripted
In addition there is a nice block about them making 21 episodes and how that worked out:
Quote:
It’s all about budget ”amortization.” The studio and network have to figure out a way to make our show profitable. You don’t do that by producing fewer episodes. A lot of the costs of making a show have to do with starting up production: hiring crews, leasing sound-stages, re-building permanent sets, etc. Once all of the infrastructure and people are in place, the relative costs of continuing production go down the more episodes you make. Given the calendar, we only had time to produce eight episodes in order to air in our usual July time slot. Thus, the decision to make 21 instead of 13, and break them into two blocks of eight and thirteen. We don’t yet know our airdate for the second half, but look for it sometime in early to mid ‘09. Sorry we can’t be more specific. But the good news is we finished Season Three with our highest average ratings since the series premiere two years ago. So, hopefully, thanks to you, we’ll be around a little while longer. Thanks for keeping us on the air.

Re: Eureka Season 3

With some shows coming back for their second half (Monk, Psych, Burn Notice), has there been any update yet for Eureka?

Believe it or not, Wednesday there was an update to EUREKA unscripted
So, maybe that is a sign that we might be seeing more Eureka in the near future

Re: Eureka Season 3

At the the Sci Fi Channel press screening of the “Battlestar Galactica” final it was mentioned that “Eureka” returns in the summer. There are a few lines in Maureen Ryan's article about it at SyFy gleanings: News about the 'Battlestar' film, a 'Caprica' challenge, the 'Eureka' love-fest and more | The Watcher
Some might be considered slight spoilers.

Re: Eureka Season 3

Eureka is their highest rated show. Believe it or not, ratings for "Eureka" are far better then Battlestar.
Quote:
Battlestar Galactica

· The first half of Battlestar Galactica season 4 averaged a 1.8 Household rating, 1,576,000 Adults 18-49 (+15%); 1,726,000 Adults 25-54 (+19%) and 2,326,000 total viewers (+13%). Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, this is the best half season or full season performance for the series since Battlestar Galactica season 1 (Jan-April 2005). Battlestar enjoyed its best season ever for female viewers, delivering 592,000 Women 18-49 and 646,000 Women 25-54.

Eureka

· Eureka delivered its best season to-date in key demos, while averaging a 2.2 Household rating and series-highs of 1,424,000 Adults 18-49 (+11%); 1,687,000 Adults 25-54 (+21%) and 2,972,000 Total Viewers (+20%).

From NBC/Universal. Yeah, Eureka was a lock for a renew.

And if they never put it back on the air it can remain their highest rated show forever!
That might make the ad-men happy but doesn't do the viewer any good.

Thanks. Eureka was the only decent "summer series" during it's first 2 seasons. I'm glad they decided to finish Season 3 off with a summer run. This and the 2nd Season of HBO's True Blood will make for a fun Summer of TV!

Re: Eureka Season 3

Any word on whether they're working on a season 4, and if so, will there be as many episodes as season 3?

Re: Eureka Season 3

For anyone who hasn't seen the first half of season 3, there's a marathon on Sunday of the last two episodes of S2 and then all of S3 so far, it seems.

Maybe that's a sign that the rest of S3 (or maybe they'll call it S4?) will be on soon?

Just a bump to remind folk that it is indeed supposed to be restarting this Friday.

Will there be a release of the entire 3rd season or will it be in 2 parts?  I know the first half of Season 3 is coming out soon.

My guess is they'll do something similar to that with BSG.  They'll release the second part on its own and also have both available in one package.

Y'know, for being told that we were getting a longer season - hence the product placement (Degree, anyone?) - it sure seems like what we really got was a shortened 3rd season and a guaranteed 4th, since this is about what time a new season would start.

I know it's comes down on SyFy's head, but I hope that they give Eureka a true 4th season, and it's not broken apart like season 3 was.

I have my DVR set to start recording this again.  Does anyone know how many episodes are scheduled?  Is it 12?
I am so glad this show is returning.  Can't wait to see how this premiere unfolds.

Have noticed in the promo's for this show that the sponsor is Crest.  Have the Degree Men disappeared?  Will everyone have fewer cavities and whiter teeth?

Liked the start tonight.  Is this S4 or still. I'm all confused anymore..
Sheriff Andy? haha.

I had the culprit figured out, but this was still an enjoyable outing and a great way to return,

Suprised at Jo's reaction to the situation.  Guess she and Carter get along better than she wants to admit.

I believe this is still part of Season 3.  The first 5 or 6 episodes they showed last year were episodes that had been finished before the writer's strike.  The series was ready to start again in January but SciFi, or should I say SyFy, Channel chose to wait until now to air these last 12 or 13 episodes left in Season 3.
I enjoyed this new episode but wasn't really in love with it.  How ever, the line about something being out there, well, that peaked my interest.  I can't wait to see where that story line goes.

The episode with Fargo Hulk was great.

A little weird to do a clip show in season 3, isn't it?  Did they maybe go over budget on special effects or something on other episodes?

Well, it is episode 16 of season 3, so a clip show isn't out of line. (assuming a clip show is ever justified) I once saw a clip show that was made using deleted scenes. That was pretty neat. (don't remember the show right now)

Did everyone notice the scene of Henry erasing Carter's memory when Fargo reversed the effect? Did a lost memory just get restored?

41st episode. That'd still be the 2nd season on network television. It just felt like a waste of an episode.
that episode made me realize:

1) this show is getting boring

2) the best episodes are past

3)Salli Richardson was smoking-hot in season one.  Like nuclear....
Not sure I agree with 1 & 2.

I'm not too sure about 1 or 2.  I'll admit that this week's episode was a snooze-fest.  Clip shows pretty much always are though.  3 is right on the money  :)  (and she's still pretty smoking hot now!)
