As per this avsforum thread: Samsung BD-UP5000 Firmware 1.3 Released Report BUGS\FIXES - AVS Forum, there is a new firmware update that fixes most if not all of the audio problems.
You can get the update via zipped iso from Samsung site but note that the link still says version 1.2. It is in fact 1.3.
