Did anyone see this incredible trailer before Indiana jones? I didn't even know this was coming. Brad Pitt reverses in age. I hope the trailer is online soon.. just beautiful stuff and very different for David Fincher.

I just know it's not online yet At least I haven't found it.

I'm very excited for this film.

It did look quite intoxicating and I'd love to watch it again. It was asurprise since I hadn't heard about the trailer.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

Sadly, my crowd (Indiana Jones 4) that I saw this trailer with just didn't "get" it, and it got some snickering from the crowd.

Could be an "Oscar picture".

Should be another great one from Finch.

Hopefully RAMA is next.

Glad you started this thread David because after seeing that trailer it really had me juiced. Really interested in seeing this.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

Wow, looking at the trailer this should be good. I'm glad David Fincher can make movies like Zodiac and films like these at the same time.
I don't know if the movie turns out that way, but I did find it a bit odd that it (the trailer, at least) looks like a Terry Gilliam/Tim Burton cross-over.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

My problem with the trailer was that it was slightly more than a teaser trailer, but didn't have enough information to be a full blown trailer.

Okay, so guy ages backwards...why? How did it start?

I understand that at least one of those question should be answered in the movie itself, but there just wasn't enough in that trailer to figure out what the driving force of the movie would be.

Judging from the trailer, the film will be less concerned with why and how this happened, but rather with the consequences of living with such a condition. It actually looks very sad to me with Pitt's character not having anyone to share his experiences with. The love of his life is aging while he gets younger, thus giving them a short "overlap" period to truly share their existence. I'm eagerly anticipating this one.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

I am glad you guys are interested in this too. I thought something was wrong with me when there was such a ho hum reaction to it at Indy 4.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

I had the same "whatever" reaction to the trailer before "Indy IV" that you guys have mentioned (I just wasn't vocal about it in the theater). Of course, that was BEFORE I knew that Fincher directed it...

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

I'm looking very forward to seeing this. It does have a very Tim Burton'ish style to it. Great cast line up too.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

I loved the trailer - hell, I thought it was more interesting than Indy IV.

Agreed that the film is most likely concerned not with the cause of the reverse aging, but with the effects. And Cate Blanchett looks effin' amazing in it. Keep the red hair, Cate!

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

A little off topic, but I'll be watching this movie closely to see Madisen Beaty's first role in a "Big" film (Cate's character at age 10).

You see, I was on the crew of a film making competition that helped discover this fine young actress. We cast her in the lead role for our Boulder Shootout entry in 2005; "The Emperor's Daughter". Up to this point she'd only done local theater and one PSA spot.

If you click on the link you'll have to do a title search for "The Emperors Daughter" to find it. The rules of this competition are to make a 7 minute film in 24 hours entirely in-camera (no editing). The story/script is weak, but I'm proud of my camera-work/"editing". (I was the cinematographer. All camera work was done on a cheap cam-corder in-camera.) IMO It's pretty ambitious to attempt fight scenes and special effects without any editing.
--Please don't laugh at some of the sound editing mistakes. We almost didn't get this in on time and the director (and star-the Samurai) didn't have time to delete my voice from the first fight scene.--

Madisen was really impressive, even back in 2005. Very professional. She stayed up late into the night and woke up early to get this done. She did this with very little rehearsal - most of that was for the fight scenes so she wouldn't get hit with a sword.

I'm really proud of Madisen and I hope she does well in her career.

I was not aware of any new Fincher or Pitt movie so I will be watching out for this.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

Just finished the Roth script this morning.
With tidbits from the trailer in mind, I could see the story unfold. It was amazing. Obviously, it extends the short Fitzgerald text.

This should be an incredible film.

Ditto, except Fincher's attachment still doesn't do anything to raise my interest.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

Judging from the preview, the movie looks much richer and better than the short satirical story by F. Scott Fitzgerald story (am I the only person who has read this?) The movie looked to carry some of the whimsy and heartbreak of "Big Fish" and "A Very Long Engagement", at least that's the impression I got. Can't wait!

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt + David Fincher)

This looks highly intriguing and looks right up my alley. This would be a film I'd love to see in cinemas. Can't wait to see it. The trailer felt like a mini-film. I was awed and it just looks wonderful.

You're not the only person to read it
If the script is on screen, it will be better.
