Thor (2011) Discussion/Review Thread - Page 4

Hmmm in your link Oscar, Mjolnir looks like a stick with a glowing box on it. I hope thats not the final look.

I like the costume.

It's just not Thor without the helmet.

Gotta agree with you about that.

Ya know the more I look at that costume the less I'm liking it.

This is the look of Thor that I was hoping for on the big screen......1f7165156893ddb811bce9397cc4911898afd9e1.jpg

Oh well.

I think the lower half of the suit is too bland.

I also would have preferred something a bit more like the pic above. More viking, middle earth or chainmail looking.

And the helmet is confirmed and will be worn, its just not used in that concept art.

I think this is better than what theyre using.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The race is to get everything locked down for Comic Con in San Diego in two weeks. Marvel Studios has a panel planned for 6pm on the Saturday night of the convention which is where it's expected to reveal the first footage from "Thor" and finally confirm Whedon's involvement in an official capacity. However there's some pretty solid talk going around that all the major cast members of 'The Avengers' (Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans) will appear on stage together for the first time.

Here's a story with a new shot of Thor, Odin, and Loki.  Reaction on some sites has been pretty negative but I think they look fine.  It reminds me a little of when the first X-Men movie came out - the pictures of those costumes were underwhelming but in motion they worked.  I hope the same will be true here.

The costumes look a little better in context.  Loki is recognizable.

What does a king or a ruler do on a throne like that? There's no computer terminal, no desk for your papers. Maybe he has an iPad. Ok, seems like if you are king, you can have people do things for you, so why sit around on an isolated chair?

If this is really anything more than an easter egg, I am so excited for where Marvel is going...

Lot of good buzz about the trailer at comic con. Can't wait for it to be released online.

Yeah.  I have to admit...Hemsworth looks good in the pic with Mjolnir, the throne is beautiful (and so Walt Simonson), and the Destroyer looks great.  I'm extremely intrigued by this film now.

I've been questioning Hemsworth acting ability (he was fine in ST, but carrying a 2 hour movie as the Norse God of Thunder is a different task) wrt the Avengers, but the trailer comments have been very positive for him.  He certainly has a physical presence, based on the Avengers Cast shot from SDCC.  I failed to observe that Branagh is an exceptional director of actors, so he should be fine (Whedon is good as well).  If nothing else, I am super-excited for The Art of Thor (book) next summer :)

Follow the link if you want to see the 5-minute preview they showed at Comic-con. It's surprisingly polished too, nothing looked unfinished though I'm sure some of it was.

I'm not sure how "official" this is, meaning it could be taken down so click faster.

Sif is so hot.  I'm there!

:-)

Video removed for infringement.  Sad little Mayer.  I definitely wanted to see a hot Sif and some Norse superhero action.

Links are popping up and going down everywhere. I managed to snag a copy before it was removed. All I can say is that it looks AWESOME!

Edit: Watch it while you can...

Checked it out by clicking at the last "reference" on the wiki page.  Worked out.  Decent footage.  I was hoping for more, but was relatively pleased with what I saw.  Not too hard to figure out the arcs and the story, but I am still looking forward to this one.  Thanks for the help!

I wasn't interested at all until I saw that trailer. Kenneth Branagh was a left field choice to direct, but it appears to have paid off. Clearly, Clark Gregg is the real star of this picture as Agent Coulson.

Trailer goes on for too long, it shows too much. I feel like I've seen the film already.

Not so enthused now after that preview, it'll look great but I get that 'seen it all before' vibe. What else is out next year?

It's not an official trailer. It was meant for the Comic Con crowd. It's obviously a work in progress but I'm still stoked about the movie.

Official trailer debuts tonight at 7 PM EST on Yahoo movies.
