Mits WD65833 vs WD65735

All - I'm in a quandry. I'm replacing my Tosh WT65G80 with something new, and I can pick up the 65833 or the 65735 at about a $550 difference; which one would ultimately be the better deal? The *735 I can't find a whole lot of reviews on, while the *833 seems a bit more common (and older?). Since the *833 is part of the Diamond line of Mitses, I'm assuming it's "better" - TV Guide, one more HDMI in back, another HDMI in the front, RS232 (what, they have vt100 consoles now?! ), a few more buzzwords (such as [High|True|Perfect|Plush|Deep][Color|Light|Edge|onionsoup]). However, all those extra words that the *833 have, will they ultimately make me happier? I have no plans to purchase a BluRay (PS3) anytime soon, and my cable service is 1080i with 480p DVD. I'm by no means a "must-have-the-best-available-stuff", as my old Yammie speakers and Sony receiver can attest to, but I do like a good picture (which, for as old as the Tosh is, it has a pretty decent SD picture - I'm going to clean it up, tune it, and probably sell it).

Any input would be deeply appreciated, and please - if this issue has been discussed before (I did a forum search and came up dry), please close this thread and point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance!

Re: Mits WD65833 vs WD65735

Howdy!

I've got a Mitsu Y657 (CC's version) which is part way between a *733 and a *833. There's some differences, with the *833 having "more stuff" including the onionsoup that you mention. While I like onion soup a great deal, I'm not sure it's worth $550.

If you really need more inputs, that may be a deciding factor. If you really need to adjust the "tint" of each color as well as the brightness of that color, then that may be a deciding factor. Edge enhancement, to me, is weird. But if you like it, get it.

The *833 is also a 120 Hz set, which is likely the biggest improvement.

I don't know much about the *735.....but you can go to the Mitsu website and compare the two sets side-by-side and see if you think the features are worth the half-a-thousand bucks.

I appreciate the feedback - I think we've settled on the *735. We also managed to score a Mitsu stand for $99, which kind of sealed the deal. At the $550 difference, I can live without the extra two HDMI plugs.

Sounds lovely! I made pretty much the same determination.

I went to the Mitsu site, just to read up on the *735. There is an infrared emitter to control LCD shutter type 3D glasses for specially made 3D films.

WAY COOL!!! I'm jealous....

Re: Mits WD65833 vs WD65735

Just wanted to finalize this post. We did settle on the *735, and I LURVE it. Of course, compared to ol' yeller it's a universe in difference, but I'm very happy with the picture quality - sharpness, color saturation, black intensity... I have yet to try the 3d glasses thing, but I'd sure like to. The next thing to try on it is (obivously) World of Warcraft. Thanks for your feedback!

Hey MickO. I just bought the WD65735 myself. First big screen and I couldn't be happier! Only problem is it looks out of place sitting on my coffee table. I saw your above post about getting the stand for $99 and I assume you got that deal as a combo with the TV but I figured I'd ask. If it wasn't a combo deal please let me know where you found it. I tried to PM you about it but I'm new here and I guess I don't have that privilege yet so hopefully you see this. My email is michigandave810@yahoo.com. Thanks!
