Purchasing a TV need advice

Hey there. This is my first post here and I'm in some need of advice.

I'm looking at purchasing my first HD TV to go into my new home and I know I want 1080, no smaller than 42", budget is $1,200 and I really don't care if I go with LCD or Plasma... maybe I would prefer Plasma for a a higher contrast ratio...

Any suggestions on brands of specific models?

Thanks!

Re: Purchasing a TV need advice

You might try the right section of the forum, Display Devices ... Post your viewing distance and describe lighting conditions in the room also. Your budget is kind of thin for 42" 1080p at this time, though if you wait a month prices are expected to drop. You'd have a ton more options if your budget was $1400, and/or 40", 720/768p are OK. Is that budget including tax/shipping/delivery or not?

I got the Toshiba 42RV530U tonight... It looked great and I couldn't really see anything wrong with it... Thanks for the input!
