People question him as a director so how does he go about proving himself? Challenging people to fights!

I just watched Alone in the Dark two days ago, just to say I saw it and it's one of Uwe's best movies. That's really - really - really sad.

I'll take "The Rock" anyday please.

Hell, I'll take anything Bay has done over Boll's work anyday.

If I were Bay, I would hire the best boxing trainers in the business and quietly train for a year.....then I would accept Boll's challenge just so I could pound the snot out of him.

BTW, I have no doubt Boll knows his movies suck. He does it intentionally, but you guys keep falling for his antics. When will you get it? Bay genuinely thinks he's the real deal. In a sense, he's the more offensive one, but they both suck.

To be honest, I think you have it backwards. Boll thinks he's awesome -- he keeps getting hired to direct movies and they all tank. Bay, while creating exploding, hottie-filled, testosterone fueled, eye & ear candy, at least can laugh at himself. See his recent pool party commercial on youtube.

Boll apears to be like one of those contestants on American Idol that sincerely thinks everyone else is wrong about him.

Who's made more money from his films?

Does Boll get called by Spielberg with earmarked projects?

If they are that bad, why do people spend money seeing them theatrically AND buy up the DVDs?

Does Boll have a Criterion release?

He may be good at mixed martial arts but as far as making entertaining films (and I mean entertaining on purpose), he sucks fossils. He knows it and, like the child he is, he threatens people with violence to show how cool he is.

He's a low-forehead tool. Maybe he should fight himself...to the death.

At least Boll is releasing the movie "Far Cry" this summer.
Even though it will probably suck (like most movies made from games), I will gladly buy the DVD.

I really loved the game, so I have to own the movie.

Two main comments.

Commercial success is not quality, though it will get you calls from Spielberg, who is mainly a businessmen afterall. I haven't bothered to check out his youtube contributions.

I have no doubt that all Boll's posturing is just part of the act, exactly like the people who go on American Idol and suck unbelievably, and know it, but act like they are great. It increases their chances of getting on the show, which is ultimately what they want. They can't get on by being good (presuming anyone on that show has ever been good) so they get on by sucking and antics.

I will never understand the dislike of Bay. I was surprised when I first started coming to the HTF and learned alot of people didn't like him.

The Rock is one of my most favorite re watchable action movies.

True but Uwe Boll vs. Michael Bay (or Pot vs. Kettle) suggests that they are the same and nothing is further from the truth.

Bay make films that entertain me and a lot of other people. Boll does not.

I like Bay too. The Rock was a top notch actioner. He's not the greatest filmmaker but his films are entertaining. The people who hate Bay tend to be of the snooty film snob variety. SteveGon and his ilk pride themselves in not being interested in the big summer blockbusters. And I think Ricey once bragged he had successfully avoided watching any of the Lord of the Rings films. There you go, your honour I rest my case.

As for Uwe Boll, I saw a zombie film he made, and it was pants, I mean really bad.

Boll admits to making movies for purly commercial reasons. And he rbought up the tax dodge angle in interviews too.

That said, I presonally would like to beat the snot out of Bay. Why? Just cuz. something about him smacks of "Punch Me". So I'd put my money On Boll, even though "Alone In The Dark" was the only movie in the past 5 years I actually shut off.

My brother has said I'm the follow the masses type. I like stuff because other people do. I don't agree with that. I like stuff just because I DO. Has nothing to do with anyone else.

Sometimes I think people want to NOT like something or someone, JUST to be different. Like not Liking Bay.

Now I am not going to call anyone a snob, but I've always found it odd when people choose to rip on a movie like Transformers or The Rock or something like Tomb Raider. I mean if you don't know what you're going to see when you check into those kinds of movies, you probaby shouldn't of went.

Every movie can't be Gone with The Wind. And a movie doesn't need to be to be entertaining.

No, Michael Bay makes brain dead action movies. Speilberg makes entertaining action movies. nothing about being different. I never would have thought. Uwe Boll is, like, the manliest artist since Ernest Hemingway.

Regarding the directors' quality, I thought I hated Bay until I saw Superman Returns and realized I would have much rather seen Bay's take on Superman than Bryan Singer's. Bay would never have consented to such a mopey take on the character and he probably would have cast a much hotter Lois Lane, too

Perhaps I worded that wrong. I meant that every movie doesn't have to be a Gone With the Wind type masterpiece to be entertaining. Movies like Transformers ARE (and it is) entertaining.

I had no problem with that movie, at all. I went in to see a fun action flick and that's what I saw.

(And ok Maybe Gone With the Wind was a bad example. Citizen Kane, The Godfather, take your pick. It was only an example.)

I don't know why I mentioned Tomb Raider, it isn't made by either Boll or Bay. It does fall into the category of a simply fun movie that doesn't try to be more than it is.

See, I watched it for the same reason, with the added bonus of lower expectations since it was Bay. When you can't simply tell a story or create a world that makes sense from scene to scene... well... it's pretty much the basis of making a movie. So what you got was as eries of scenes that all played terrible. And the robot fighting sucked too, I fell asleep during the last fight.

the only Bay movie I enjoyed was "The Island", and even that one suffered from an incredibly lame ending. But it was one of the few where he created a logical world that made sense to the story he was telling. "The rock" was good for the same reasons. Everything he else he's done has been lazy and pandering. Not my cup of tea.

Boll just flat out makes incompetant movies, and is unapologetic about it.

That is definately an over the top check your brain at the door type movie. But yes, I like it.

Just to balance myself out. Yes i like Bay's movies, no I wont ever watch a Boll movie. (I haven't and have no desire too, previews alone are all I need to go by) But I also love movies like The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, There will Be Blood....

See I like deep movies too!

Now where is an explosion I can watch...

It certainly has that attitude (which is another thing that I like about it) so if that was his intent, he did succeed. The whole movie is like people sat down and said "We have as much money as we want so how can we make the most insane and over the top action movie which also has no socially redeeming value?" and the outcome was Bad Boys II.

Lest anyone think I'm a big Michael Bay fan, I like Bad Boys II and The Rock but hate the rest of his stuff. Of course, that's two more movies than I like of Uwe Boll's terrible output.
