I'm a massive fan of Eastwood and this is one of my favourites. Really excited about this, hope they don't screw it up.

Re: In the Line of Fire - Blu-ray release July 1st

I don't know much about this film. I may pick it up when there is a sale.

Life of Brian not withstanding, and I wonder if that was more of a Lowry issue, the only thing I typically worry about with Sony Blu-ray Disc releases now-a-days is how God-awful the cover art will be.

This will definitely be added to my collection (I'm still, inexplicably, limping along with my VHS copy ).

A really excellent thriller and the move to Blu-ray should be stupendous. I bought the original DVD issue, so I'm sure the BD is going to look and sound much better.

Re: In the Line of Fire - Blu-ray release July 1st

I remember way back in 1997 (or was it '98?)when I attended one of those introductory seminars for DVD at Bay-Bloor Audio in downtown Toronto. They were demonstrating the Sony 7000 and I remember them playing a scene from 'In The Line Of Fire' on it.....I was blown away by the sound and picture and knew that DVD was the future. Now.....a decade later, I can now get prepared to be blown away again with this Blu-ray release. Deja-vu.

Re: In the Line of Fire - Blu-ray release July 1st

I love how this film (and Eastwood himself) really makes a point to refer to his age. He ain't "The Man With No Name" or even "Dirty Harry" anymore, more like their father or grandfather!

On a side note, a couple of years ago I ran into him in a Ralphs in West L.A. He does look good for his age, and he stops traffic wherever he goes. Living in L.A. I'm not normally star-struck, but even I gawked at him alongside 100 other people in the immediate vicinity. A true legend.

Re: In the Line of Fire - Blu-ray release July 1st

This was the first SD-DVD I purchased, back in early 1997 when the only discs available (outside of the few 'test' cities) were 7 or so titles from Sony/Columbia. Seems about time to retire it and replace with the Blu-ray version.

Oh, man I can't wait to get this. One of my Eastwood faves.

"You've got a rendezvous...WITH MY ASS" Cheesy to be sure, but Eastwood can make anything come out cool.
