The Perfect Storm

Debuts on Blu-ray™ Hi-Def July 22


Burbank, California (April 11, 2008) – Experience nature like never before when The Perfect Storm, starring George Clooney (Leatherheads, Michael Clayton) and Mark Wahlberg (We Own the Night, The Happening), makes its Blu-ray™ Hi-Def debut on July 22 from Warner Home Video. The DVD’s bonus features include commentaries, featurettes and a photo gallery. Nominated for two Academy Awards® for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound, The Perfect Storm also includes English Dolby TruHD® sound and picture in 1080p.

The Perfect Storm will sell for $28.99 SRP. Orders are due June 17.


About The Movie

The Perfect Storm is based on the true-life best selling novel by Sebastian Junger, and stars George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Diane Lane in the story of six crew members on the
fishing boat, Andrea Gail and their grueling battle with an unheralded natural disaster at sea.
Wolfgang Petersen directs.

Let's hope the Blu-ray is a better transfer than the HD-DVD

I was entertaining the idea of getting this title on Blu-ray because the transfer on HD-DVD is said to be lacking. But after seeing the back cover of the artwork. It looks like the Blu-ray edition will not contain a Dolby True HD track. It looks like it will only offer a mediocer Dolby Digital EX track which I will not waste my money on! So since I already own this title on HD-DVD and it has a Dolby True HD track, I think I will keep the HD-DVD version. It looks like WB is still up to there old trick of porting over the same tired old Dolby Digital track they used on the SD-DVD version.

I would have loved to have a nicer transfer if possible for The Perfect Storm. But since WB has seen fit to use DD on an HD title, I have to say to WB NO SALE ! ! !

Shame on you WB !

It's best not to jump to conclusions over a picture. This release has been confirmed to contain a DD THD track:

yes, and I read on Digital bits that Perfect Storm is getting a NEW 1080p transfer. So this is a MUST BUY for me.

Bill Hunt mentioned this will be a new 1080p transfer and contain TrueHD. Should be nice.

Thank you for the info Paul, I though we where going to end up with another DD release on Blu-ray. WB has done this before so I am glad that I am wrong on this one. It will go back on my Blu-ray list.

doesnt the press release in the first post say it includes the true hd track.?

Yes Tony you are correct it did say that it was to include a DTHD track. I have no idea why I did not ether notice it or it just didn't register for some reason. I must have been really tired when I read to post, I need to keep off my computer when I am that tired.

I will be buying this title in June most likely at the same time I pick up the Dirty Harry Box Set!
