This really pisses me off! Strike another off the list.

Lack of extras is fine, if the price is in line with a bare bones disc! I dont mind $27 to $34 if the value for the money is there. With FOX that never seems to be the case, and it never has been.

The only time i have bought a FOX Blu-ray is on a BOGO sale, and that seems to hold true still!

You are in a moderated forum. The moderators make the judgment calls about 1) deciding what is a wasteful post, and 2) policing who posts what. You checked in your "rights" when you agreed to the terms and conditions of this forum. This is not a democracy. To quote Jeff Lebowski, "There are rules, Donnie!"

And two moderators have already checked in here asking you to leave the topic alone.

I know it's tempting to always want to have the last word, but in this case, it's best to just leave well enough alone.

To get back on topic, it's unfortunate but not surprising that the extras from Mr. Prior's M&C are not in the forthcoming BD. I can already smell the double dip coming in 2 years.

Seriously though, if those extras are not in 1080p, then I'll live with those extras residing in my DVD of M&C. Sucks for those who don't own M&C already and will be buying a barebones BD version, but for those of us who own it, if those aren't going to be in 1080p then it really makes little difference (for me) if they are on the BD or not.

Yes, and two moderators is enough, Carlo, if you get my point...

I tend to agree w/ this (more or less) though I also agree that Fox definitely should not charge such high premiums for barebones releases. I don't really mind barebones catalog releases w/ top notch A/V quality too much as long as the price is right since I too won't mind keeping the old SD version around for the extras (and for viewing on roadtrips, lending to family and friends, etc). Well, would be nice to at least get the feature length commentary track(s) on the BD though.

For me, new day-and-date releases are probably a bigger deal when it comes to extras since I don't really want to have to buy the SD version for that going forward. Well, that and I guess there are certain catalog titles where studios do produce loads of good new extras for the double/triple-dip -- but then again, I kinda doubt Fox would fall under that category too often anyway...

The extras or behind the scenes footage for a film of this age may not have been shot in 1080p. It's only in the last 2 or 3 years that the behind the scenes crews have started shooting in HD. Of course new interviews could be shot in HD, but there just may not be much on the set kind of stuff that is.

Hats off to you, Jari, with my thanks! I'd have dropped the subject long ago if Carlo didn't feel the need to turn one simple comment of mine into a holy crusade. Carlo, if you agree to walk away, I'll consider my piece (which holds in firm disagreement with most of yours) said, as well.

The only "holy crusade" here has been your determination to demonstrate your disdain for the OP's thread. Carlo exercised the same right you've been claiming -- he told you what he thought of your "simple comment". Everything since then has been you trying to play the injured party and have the last word.

You seem to think you have a right to educate other posters about the proper way to conduct themselves here. Assuming, just for argument's sake, that you're correct, are you the only one who has that right? Does no one else have a similar right to educate you?

These are rhetorical questions, BTW. I'm not interested in answers. But it strikes me as contradictory for you to complain that "multiple people in here feel the need to address my attitude", while simultaneously claiming an inherent right to critique the conduct of the OP.

"When did you stop beating your wife?" is also just a question. But most people get that it's an insidious, loaded question designed to sneak in an accusation that wasn't there before. The same could be said of questions like your "as an HTFer, am I to be denied the right to express my irritation to the OP for even those 'few seconds' of wasted time?" -- when no one has actually tried to prevent you from doing so.

I don't think it's escaped anyone's attention that you like to bait moderators with such questions. It certainly hasn't escaped the staff's attention.

I'm going to make this easy for all concerned. As you yourself have noted, this thread has rarely stayed on topic. It's time for it to end.
