I don't think she did. We now know who Linc really found in that box.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Ok I'm a little confused going into this new season and I think I may have missed a few things. I finally caught up with the last season (3) a few weeks ago and even though the show is seriously in need of an end I'm still watching.

In the new season T-Bag, Bellick and Sucre are all in Los Angeles but there is no explanation on how they all got the hell out of Sona.
Did I miss something or has it not been explained yet?

Sona burned down during a prison riot. It was only briefly mentioned.

Really? That's it? If that's the best explanation they have then they are really grasping at straws with this show.
I'm still watching with my wife who loves the show, but even she knows it's pretty thin these days. I wish they would make the call like L.O.S.T. did and put an end in sight. Hell I wish more shows would do this instead of dragging it out for extra money.

I completely understand where you're coming from, but I'll still point out that's their reason for existing -- to make money. I don't think Lost set an end date because they were being altruistic. I think Lost set an end date because there was a palpable "they're just dragging this out" taking root in the audience and their ratings were going down. Setting an end date was a way of asking the audience to stick with them through this finite journey. It also allowed the writers to focus. It is difficult to write an open ended serial without it becoming a soap opera (the most famous and long-running of open ended serials).

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Without the end date, "Lost" turns into "Gilligan's Island", more or less. At least with this season of Prison Break, there is a bigger objective, now it's just how clever the writers are in putting in obstacles that feel organic to the storytelling without having the audience feel like it's just padding, so it's quite a balancing act and challenge for the producers/writers of this show.

Yeah but Lost always had an end in mind even when they didn't know when the show would finish. So even at its slowest, Lost knows what it's moving towards. When Prison Break nears the end of each season, the writers come up with a few loose ends to set up with no idea of what they'll do with them next season and then make something up when they come back for the new year.

That being said, I'm enjoying the Mission: Impossible/Dirty Dozen-style angle that the writers came up with for this year. While it's off the wall, I think this one of the show's best years (though it's very early to say that).

So far, I rank this behind only Season 1 (for me). I don't mind that I watch it now, whereas the last seasons were more just me wanting to basically know what happens and keep up. If I weren't for recordings, I wouldn't have watched them at all.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I thought they did state that the show would last for a certain number of seasons (that has now been surpassed).

Yeah, from what I understand it was supposedly planned out as a 3 season show.

I once heard they'd planned five seasons, and that was back during the first season. Although to be honest, I'm not sure I really believe they ever had a real long-term plan.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

It was supposed to only be two seasons. That's what they said many times during season 1.

Quote:
''The show was originally designed as a mini-series, then as a two-season series,'' said Matt Olmstead, an executive producer who is the show runner of ''Prison Break.'' ''The first two seasons were essentially the first and second hour of 'The Great Escape,''' that is, the plan to break out of prison, followed by the manhunt.

Exactly, LOST has always known where it wants to go and the over all story arc, beginning to end, has been in place from what I've read.
I think It was more ABC trying to get the series to last a few more seasons once the popularity of the show took off. Once fans noticed this was the approach and they started to drop off, the creators quickly came out and said they were wrapping it up as intended, which was great in my opinion.
Too many shows wear out their welcome rather than go out on a high note like some should. ED on NBC for example should have ended at the end of season three and it would have gone down as incredible. Instead NBC picked them up for a fourth and tarnished a great show.

I read an interview where they said that the second half of the third season was supposed to show the other characters getting out of Sona. Because of the strike, they decided to go ahead with what they intended for season 4, and basically use a couple of lines of dialogue to cover the gap. Not the most elegant solution, but that's why they say they did what they did.

I kind of figured they did something like that, I just wish they would clear it up a little better than they have.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I never thought I'd see an "Impossible Mission" type force with Brad on the team. I think I may be done with this show. It was a guilty pleasure. Now I don't seem to be getting anything out of it. They really should have given them the ending at the season 2 finale.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I heard that the last shot of the series finale will show T-bag sitting on his bunk in his cell staring into and shaking a snow globe.

What's particularly interesting about that shot will be the fact that he will be doing so with two prosthetic arms by then.

No I figure by that point, they'll be able to somehow find his hand from the first season, and reattach it again, to make things easier for the producers, like the whole tattoo removal thing.

And the reattached head.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I think the show has lost sight of its initial idea, but they've convereted into a "watchable" production. I won't give up on it just yet, plus this coming episode we get to see Sarah sporting some cleavage!

This weeks show had a very heavy Ocean 11 vibe to it, I think thats wha the showed has morphed to.

Yeah I gotally got that vibe too. looking forward to it.

This was another really good episode. The season's on a roll.

They should have been nicer to the hacker kid. He's a potential threat now.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Not a bad episode. The show just seems to be "there." Can't say
it's any better or worse than usual.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I wonder how many actual gay guys The Company guy brought back to his room before Sucre?

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

He seemed to size Sucre up as a guy who was willing to do anything for money. If Sucre had played it up and came onto him on the way up, it probably wouldn't have happened.

I don't know. Every show I watch had a great episode last night, but this might have been my favorite. It was just a lot of fun. I'm liking this season without any reservations whatsoever.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

PB is still entertaining me more than Heroes, and I would not have expected that before the season started, so much so that I watch PB before I was Heroes on Mondays now.

What I like about what PB is doing is that there are objectives and obstacles and character habits and smarts that intertwine to produce fun and dramatic episodes. The characters have to adapt to the situations that turn on a dime and do it smartly or get into a messy situation due to quirks of their character flaws.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

This was my favorite episode of the season. I actually felt like the drama was real and not as...forced? Looking forward to the rest.

That's funny. Totally agree with you but I had a reverse strategy....

HEROES has been so lame I watched THAT first just to get the
worst out of the way so I had PB to look forward to watching.

This week's episode is the first really good episode of the season
and hopefully an indicator that we are on an upswing.
