Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back .... - Page 6

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Fair point but I think it was supposed to be a 'real' moment for T-Bag.

Excellent episode.

It also looks like yet another year of this series is forthcoming.

Really? I thought it was horrible. I mean, they foreshadowed that he was going to get caught at some point this episode, I mean how long can they talk about moving the card before someone finally goes down to do it. And because of the way the show is, you know it'd be some completely ridiculous cliffhanger at the very last minute.

I liked season 3, but this season has just been about throwing completely ridiculous obstacles at them over and over again.

I know its always been implausible, but I don't know, haven't had much interest at all this season.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

What I liked about this episode is that there were no reversals of fortune at all until the very end. The guys were all on, and everything worked like clockwork. A good showing by all, and the General came off a chump.

Shannon definitely didn't need another hole in her, though.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I thought this was a really good episode for once this season, especially because its the first in a while to actually surprise me at the end. I had thought all along that it was Self's boss who was lying to them, and with the episode name "Selfless" I thought that tonight would be the episode where the boss would turn on them, and kill Self, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong for once.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

No, hot cop didn't need to get popped in the mid-section.

Self is an idiot for not just capping the crew instead of leaving them to dangle like that.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Yeah, that was dumb of him, although he was pretty badly outnumbered. Maybe he takes out one or two, but even if he's the only one with the gun, that leaves him with the rest pissed off, and even if the first bullet goes into the one actual killer among them, he still has to deal with Lincoln, Sucre, Sarah, and Michael.

Great fun up until then, though. As much as there's tension, we also kind of know from the start we're at the stage of the game where our guys are really good: Sure, The Company is an international conspiracy with almost limitless resources and personnel, but Michael Scofield has had a chance to look at the lay of the land and make a plan. Even with his brain falling apart, they're not going to beat him.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

This was the perfect episode for a finale ending...that is...up until the
last 5 or 10 minutes.

Honestly, this show should have ended 5-10 minutes early and gone
out in style. Everything was perfectly wrapped up with a happy ending.

Now it looks like yet another season of this show, which in my opinion,
should not go forward. I think Prison Break was designed for
two seasons and really outstayed its welcome by expanding to four. As
someone has mentioned, the show has become nothing more than having
ridiculous obstacles thrown at the characters week after week with the
pending results perfectly planned and resolved by Scofield.

I'm not trying to trash this show. There have been moments where
it has been quite good. However, the show has run its course and
I really wish it had ended this week.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

FYI, the events of the last few minutes set up the 2nd half of the season, not a new season. Season 4 continues this coming Monday.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Yeah, I think conventional wisdom is that this is PB's last season. I understand that Fox ordered a two hour episode, which is suspected to be the wrap-up. I don't know if this is all rumor or has been confirmed. I, personally, don't mind it continuing. I have fun with the characters and part of the appeal is "how outlandish will it get?" It's actually been more down-to-earth this season. Sort of. For Prison Break.

I have the perfect setup for season five. Michael's illness carries on until the season finale, and it turns out Scylla is a machine that shrinks human beings. The general was planning to shrink an army to use for whatever his goals may be. He's killed, Michael collapses, and the doctor says, "If we don't get in there and zap that tumor fast, he's dead." Linc puts on his protective suit, fires up Scylla, and says, "I'm going in!" To be continued!

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Yes ... the circumstances have become increasingly ridiculous, but for some reason I still find the show to be immensely entertaining. I don't know if it's because I've been watching from the start and I'm just invested in the characters or that it's just that they do a pretty good job of throwing in twists/turns all the time to keep me guessing. I doubt too many people could honestly say that they thought that Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Don Self was actually playing Michael/Linc/etc the whole time.
Certainly during the episode that it happened, I saw signs of it coming, but never prior to that.

I entertained the possibility early on, but I relaxed on it after a while.

Yeah, it's exactly like 24's genius move of revealing Nina to be evil. I never saw that coming either.

If the show had only been given a half-season run, Self would have been a good guy till the end, and everything would have been neatly wrapped up. They wouldn't even have needed script changes. Just some editing of final scenes.

I'll give the writers the benefit of the doubt and say that they might have had Self's deception planned when they started with the character or at least thought of it as a possibility so they made sure not to write anything that would make it impossible. I don't think there was anyway to hint that he was bad without making it obvious that Self was planning on burning them.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

I may just be cynical, but it didn't shock me. I think it was planned and I think there were moments that we'll look back and notice something. Some of his dealing with the rest of his department was dicey, though there was always the thought that they were waiting for him to get results so they could move in and get Scylla for themselves.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

So since when is Self such a badass commando all of a sudden like he was at the beginning? He's pretty much been a bureaucrat the whole time, even after he turned on everyone.

Also since when is Sara such a pro with a handgun? (Again at the beginning, she was one of the people holding up a gun at Gretchen.)

I mean, it was always a show that was hard to believe, but its like they're not even trying anymore. A friend has pointed out that the actor who plays Lincoln's tattoos haven't been covered up lately, and he leaves on his wedding ring too.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Holding a gun on someone isn't necessarily easy, but it's not like we've seen Sara actually fire it, let alone hit something. And I'll buy Self being capable; just because he's mostly been working as a DHS bureaucrat recently doesn't mean he hasn't had weapons training in the past. It's not like he's exactly making good decisions, either; Gretchen is finding him to be a bull in a china shop, after all!

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Sara gained experience when she had to hold the general's daughter at gunpoint.

Reversals for everyone. The general's daughter will be key in undoing some of that.

It's been a great season. I wouldn't mind not seeing it end.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

You know what? I have been back and forth on this show all season,
but last night was a pretty damn good episode. The production value
on this show is first-rate with its chase scenes and its ability to escalate
tension.

The only reason I want to see the show end is that it has fallen into
a very dull routine. It's also getting a little crazy where one week they
are working for one side and the next for "The Company."

I'm not complaining here. I will admit the show is very entertaining,
but to drag it into yet another season seems pointless.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Is it believable? No. Is 24, or any other show on tv? Of course not. It's all about what you chose to enjoy. For some reason I like Prison Break but hate 24. I like the movie Bad Boys 2 but hate other movies by Michael Bay. I really like this show, even with it's faults. I think I just chose to ignore them for this one.

... And now on the wall of pictures where its supposed to say Scylla in the empty spots, it instead says "SLYLLA".

Don't forget that tonight is the "fall finale." It feels like everything is on hiatus, but this show has one more to go.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

According to the commercial at the end of the episode, they'll play "the final six episodes" in the spring. It's safe to assume that means that the writers know the end is nigh and can provide a conclusion to the show.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Yeah, it's a bummer that they're ending it when they finally found a format that works after season 1. I kind of wish that they could keep the Dirty Dozen/Mission: Impossible thing going for a couple more years.

Re: Prison Break 4 - Guess who's back ....

Looks like this show is officially cancelled.

"Big news from Fox's portion of winter press tour! The net just announced that Prison Break would be coming to an end this season. Oh, did I say big news? I meant news we all saw coming a mile away.

The final string of episodes will kick off April 17, but exactly how many episodes there will be is an open question. "We've got our remaining batch of four episodes and then there are a couple more we're contemplating," says network prez Kevin Reilly, adding that the four-year old Prison has simply run its course. "The show is played out.""

I've really enjoyed the show this season, but IMO this is good news. I don't see how they could have kept going, plot wise, beyond this season. It's time to end the story now.
