Re: SPHE Press Release: Get Smart: The Complete Series

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess I'm one of the only people who remember and originally watched this.

It was fun seeing Don as Max again. I'm in for this AND The Nude Bomb to accompany my Time-Life set.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Get Smart: The Complete Series

I tried watching a couple of episodes during the original run and gave up. In my opinion, the show was horrible and had nothing to offer in terms of entertainment. Supposedly Adams did it for the money and was not pleased with how it came out.

If someone wants it that bad if they wait a month or two this will be in the Walmart $5.50 bin. Even then it would be overpriced by about 5 bucks.

The Nude Bomb was marginally funny although painful at times. I may pick that up if OAR and if reports indicate good A/V quality. I saw it in the theater and remember being disappointed that it was not faithful to the character or the series. For those thinking the title + Sylvia Kristol = worth watching...sorry to disappoint. The only people that had nude scenes were Adams, Dana Elcar, and some other men (or body doubles for all the above). Ugh...maybe I just talked myself out of buying this

Re: SPHE Press Release: Get Smart: The Complete Series

The only good episode was the one with Bernie Kopell as Siegfried. That one was funny while the rest of them were just cringe inducing. And the new Maxwell Smart? He was more like Maxine Smart.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Get Smart: The Complete Series

The new Smart is a real Dick. Andy Dick. And aside from Newsradio, his marginal talent is not fit to share the screen with Don Adams. In fact, the only reason I'm buying this is because I have to have every performance that Don Adams ever gave as Maxwell Smart. And yes, that includes the Nude Bomb, which I enjoyed as a kid when I didn't know any better.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Get Smart: The Complete Series

Oh don't get me wrong... I think Andy Dick is one of the most annoying walks of life in the history of our planet. I loathed him. I didn't over the top like this show, but I like Max and seeing him do the opening credits again was just a hoot. I'm sure this will be really cheap the day it comes out at some B&M.. call me a completist I guess.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Get Smart: The Complete Series

I've already preordered it from Amazon. I have all the episodes from original broadcast on VHS (EP mode), but I haven't watched them in several years. I remember watching it and screaming at the screen to "fix it!" which to me included dumping Andy Dick and bringing the sister on as the new spy for a clean start. The whole idea of making Max the Chief was stupid, but perhaps that was a lazy jab at how government works.
