What to do with blown speakers...

I have a set of klipsch quintetes that are pretty much useless. I looked into replacement parts but it really seems that buying new ones wouldn't be much more then replacing parts. I'm not sure if I can just pitch them but I don't know what to do with them either. What would you do?

Only thing I can think of is to look around for a used audio/stereo store and see if they want them. Maybe they will think they're worth fixing. Other than that, pitch 'em. And should I even ask how a whole set became pretty much useless?

Well now and then I put on some pretty heavy music from my youth and crank it up. Well I turned them up a bit too loud one night.

It's mandatory to listen to Slayer as loud as possible. I didn't make the rules.

With more power, and a good, properly set up subwoofer, that shouldn't happen again. Just an FYI.

I like the sound of that.

Can't vouch for Slayer, but I do know of a number of car speakers that failed the "Van Halen 'Eruption' test"

Indeed, parts often cost more than new speakers. and, of course, you have to put the new drivers in for yourself which is not always easy, the way things are glued together these days.
